Hi I just registered on this fine board. First off just wanted to say hey, my name's Mike and I am a student in high school. I absolutely love the 3kgt/stealth. From the first time I saw one in person, I just thought "Damn that is one fine machine, what IS that?" :) After doing a little research I came to realize what nice cars these are, and I plan to make my first car a first gen 3000gt. But first I have to get my license:rolleyes:

Well now that I'm introduced, I also have a question for you non-turbo NY owners. How much do you pay for insurance on your N/A? What year is your car and which age group are you in? I can't seem to get a good quote online. Thanks for your time.

I don't have an answer for you since I have a VR-4, just wanted to give you a warm welcome. Where are you from?
Welcome to the board! I don't have an NA, so I can't help you out with your question, but I'm sure the others will. Anyways, good luck with your purchase! You can take a look at our classifieds section. There are some good cars in there. ;)
aig, 900bux a year, 18yrs, male, drivers ed, under mom's name, also in ny, also 1 tix but apparently they never found out about it

Welcome to the board. Take a moment to use the search engine. There have been several threads on insurance and you might find some usefull information in them.
Hello and welcome to the board.

I just wanted to add my two cents...

Check out a TT as well while you're shopping. I guarantee you will no longer want a NA. It might end up saving you some money. Cause you'll buy the NA, then drive or ride in a TT, then you'll have to buy another car. :) Happened to us. :p
TT? I wish!

Oh believe me I know all about the thrill of a TT I have ridden in my one of my older friend's 95 stealth TT... And I have about 10k to spend on the car so I would, in a perfect world... without insurance ;) . But an 18yr old male driving a twin turbo'd car, especially in NY... I'd probably have to sell it off in a year or go bankrupt :(. But I definitely plan on getting a turbo model when I have a good job. By the way thanks for the welcomes, and 900 a year doesn't sound too bad. My mom will probably let me use her policy too. Thanks again guys and long live 3/S cars!
Well, I'll just throw this out there...
$1300 a year inside of Washington DC
Under my mom's name..
20 years old..
a few tickets.
And that's on a 92 VR-4

Well, I have seen several 91-92 3000GT VR-4s for under $10,000. Just look in Auto Trader, you'll see several. They might need work, but what used car doesn't?

Well, good luck, man. And don't settle - wait until you find exactly what you want.

I like your name, by the way, but what's a Spliff? :p

beats the hell outta me.... but he's the first person I've come across that used the 'saurus' appendage on their name besides me. :D

I've been 'Elmosaurus' on AOLIM and Yahoo Messenger for a LONG time now....

:p

My insurance info is not relevant unfortunately. I'm 26, PA, 2 tickets, State Farm, 92 VR4, $100 deductible on Comp and Coll, and I pay $480 every six months. And that includes renters insurance and life insurance.

Good Luck in any case. You're going to love these cars.

Welcome to the board. My insurance is 2400 a year, UNDER MY MOMS NAME, hehe. Liscense suspended twice, and have about 12 speeding tickets, all in the VR-4. Been to jail for speeding, been on probabtion for speeding, done over 100 hours of cummunity servce for speeding, all in the VR-4, lol. I was young and foolish 18-19. But i'm older and wiser now, 20, hehe. N/A models are nice, i like them alot actually. They are very smooth ride, still have power to them and they look good too. Good luck in your search, hope you get one, and enjoy it just as much as we all do.

Sorry we had to blow your cover dude, dont worry though, your in good company :)
Insurance sucks, under my parents plan with EVERY possible deduction (I mean that literally, there ARE no more possible to get). I'm 20 year old with no tickets and a totally clean record. Insurance is 1400/year on my 94 R/T Turbo for "limited driving" aka weekend car. If I had it set up for normal driving it would run me $2700/year!!

Totally opposite of that, my 91 runs me $245 for 6 months of full coverage. Thank god for non-turbos :D
You might also want to talk to an insurance agent over the phone or something like that. It's been my experience that you never get the best quote over the net.
welcome to the board spliff

I pay $1200 a year. 18 male no tickets. And it is for a base model too. ARGH!! Hopefully I get my damn ECU in the mail today so I can actually drive the damn thing. HAven't driven it in over a month
For under $10K you can find a 2nd gen base model, maybe a '94. By base I mean 3000GT base, don't get the Stealth base (sorry base Stealth guys ;) But I don't really recommend you get a TT. It's my opinion, but if my first car was a TT 3/S, or hell, a TT anything I'd be dead now. I was dangerous enough in my 93HP '84 Dodge Aries and then my 110HP '80 Olds Cutlass. You need to learn how to drive something "relatively powerful" like a 222HP base/SL 3000GT before you go to the scary 300-320HP TT car! I'm almost 20 and am still learning with my 227HP, 14 second WRX. It's faster then my SL (automatic -- yuck) so I've stepped up a little bit. If you just jump in a super powerful car, you're probably gonna die. It's your money though. If I were you, I'd be looking for a ~93 SL 5-speed with lower miles. Nice.
