Hi, I just purchased my 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL five months ago, and I'm looking to do some suspension and overall handling modifications to the car. I was researching online and found that strut bars make a difference for some people and was planning to buy and add one into my car. Currently I'm mainly looking at the front strut bar offered by 3SX but am wondering what strut bars have worked best for ya'll. Additionally I'm wondering if they're any torque specs for installing the strut bar?

-Thanks

Welcome!

If you are looking to improve the actual handling of your SL, then a strut bar probably should not be the first item on your list (although it is one of the more affordable parts). There are many other considerations, such as the wheels/tires (track width and contact), custom alignment, sway bar(s) and end links, BUSHINGS, and of course the vertical aspect.

RE torque specs: are you asking about the top of the strut tower or the bar itself? If the former, then you would be torquing the mounting nuts to 33 ft-lbs. Most people would likely freehand the fasteners on the 3SX bars, but different designs allow for some "extra tightening" via threaded adjustment.

Thanks for the response, I was looking for strut bar itself torque specs, thanks for steering me in the right direction and the manual (pictures) helps a lot. I'll probably go with the 3SX rear sway bar after reading the post. It seems like the easiest to do, mainly because the front sway bar seems pretty hard to install after looking at the installation instructions on 3SX.

-Thanks
