They have many parts in stock for a limited time only. The catch is that they will only deal with shops and not individuals. I have had a hard time getting these guys to call me back when they have to go check their invintory. Ed seems to be about the only person there that will call me back, ask for him.

Company Information | Applied.com

All of our tappered roller bearings can be found at Applied Industrial Technologies. They will be able to get the roller bearings in the transaxles and TCs so long as you have a number off of the race for them. The only exception is the bell housing side input shaft bearing. These have proven to be very difficult to locate. Find a dealer near you. They were much cheaper than most vendors and are an authorized distributor for Timken and Torrington bearings. Here are the numbers for the roller bearings. All are the same for both 5 speeds (440) and 6 speeds (446) except for the counter shaft bearing on the end cover side. Most parts stores such as Auto Zone can also get these bearings.

Bell housing side / End cover side

Input shaft 308-410 / 574976

Counter shaft 30209 / 30207(440) or 30208(446)

Pinion shaft 32009 / 32009

Ralli Art 3000GT

A 3Si member who can get new tranny parts. PM for pricing.

Don't forget about your fellow 3/S members out there who may be parting out a tranny/TC. It is a good way to get used parts (but still perfectly good parts) even cheaper.

Here is a link to everything you will need to know about your AWD drivetrain. Just read the first post and follow the links. It will be continually updated as more information is available.

Here is a link where the Getrag 440 (five speed) and 446 (six speed) transaxle rebuild manual is posted. You can down load a free copy from the first post of this thread. Special thanks to Gatecrasher and all who helped him in translating it from Japanesse.

End update

I just got off the phone with Gloria at CRS. They no longer have in stock several of the Getrag 440/446 parts that many of us need and she tells me even more parts will become hard to find. The reason? CRS is not a parts supplier but a remanufacturing company under contract with Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi asked them to sell us parts so we wouldn't have to buy a new $6K transaxle. (Not a financial option for a lot of us.) CRS has been a wonderful help (as well as Kormex) but unfortunately they can only do so much for us. They don't have any plans on ordering more parts to keep in stock because they rebuild so very little of them. (Mitsubishi gets very few orders for "new" transaxles.)

Six thousand dollars will total most cars out there. If not then it leaves the owner no choice but to part out the car. When this happens Mitsubishi and Getrag do not make any money. If they offered parts Getrag could make money off of selling parts to us and the dealership and Mitsubishi could make money off of parts mark up and labor. But if we have to part out or total our car and get a new one neither Mitsubishi or Getrag make money.

Their is money to be made here guys. Where there is money to be made there is an oppertunity for us to get a parts supplier. Any body have any ideas? Can any one in MI get me the number for Getrag's office? Any one know who I have to call on the Mitsubishi side to get the ball rolling?

I have a friend of a friend (engineering drinking buddy in other words) that works for Getrag. I'll get his phone number tomorrow (if possible) and give him a ring...

TRE also gets their parts direct from CRS. They have the resources to duplicate some of our more simple parts, but not to the level and price of CRS. Fact is, unless Mitsu gets a contract with someone to get more Getrag parts for us, we are done with DIY major tranny repairs...

I know they do work on 3si now. When I talked to the owner of TRE he said he could get getrag parts anytime. He was also commenting on how hard it was to acquire those parts.

Spoke to a buddy of mine, we talked about this for about an hour. We figured that we are both looking for better jobs and being that both of us have experience in running/starting a business that we could possibly start a new company to get these parts. We would work directly with the 3si community and with Getrag to get parts actively and work to improve parts and make upgrades possible. If anyone thinks this is a good idea, we will meet tomorrow and see if its worth investing in and go from there.

CRS has been taking parts out of their rebuild stock. They are not a parts supplier but have been very nice to us in selling us some of their stock. Unfortunately their hands are tied in this matter. I know some engineering buddies back in MI who may be able to help me. Another buddy of mine has a relitive who works at Getrag. I'll see what I can turn up there. If you know any one in Getrag or Mitsubishi who may be able to help then go ahead and see what you can figure out. May be if they see several of us trying from many different parts of the country they will start to figure it out.

As for the rebuilds out there, you just have to e-mail or call in your order and hope they have it. If CRS or Kormex don't have the parts then you'll just haveto wait for them to turn up some where. Sucks I know but lets not start blaming CRS or Kormex. They are very valueable assets to us.

As for starting a company that can get us Getrag parts any time, that wouldb e great. But I doubt you would be able to make it worth your time financially speaking. I'd hate for a fellow member's bussiness to go under because it was TOO specialized. If you are going to open a speed shop you have to focus on more than one car and you have to know those cars like the back of your hand.

If any one can contact Getrag and get some info then go ahead and do it. Don't go off on them, just figure out what would have to happen to get parts out of them. We could use some contacts on the Mitsubishi side also. I don't want both sides to end up saying it's the others responceability.

here's another thought that hasn't been tackled yet. what if somebody found a high-end machine shop that would be able to simply remake these parts for us as needed? we find a few perfectly new ones for them to reference and get their measurements from. it would take some time if they didn't want to carry anything in stock, but slow is better than nothing. i'm sure after some orders roll through that they'd start making a few extras of the more common parts.

i'm not sure if patent laws would become an issue or not. there are lots of companies out there that make parts identical to OEM that aren't a part of or in league with the original manufacturer.

i have a friend of the family who owns a super-precision machine shop, but i'm not sure if this is something he would tackle or not. i'll find out.

there's a lot more to be discussed and explored with that, but i'm in a bit of a rush.

also, would somebody be willing to write up a petition letter that we could send around and send to Mitsu and Getrag? not that i think it will do a whole lot of good, but at least then they will be aware of our views.

with this being mostly/all about money for them, if we end up totalling out our marvelous 3/s's, what do they currently offer for us as a replacement? nothing. performance-wise, the two closest would be the Viper and Evo. the Viper is way too spendy, and the Evo has no chance of comparing with our cars on numerous levels. I guess if our 3/s's broke, we'd all have find another manufacturer that will fit our needs. Sorry Mitsu, if you pull these parts and i need them, its full-time back to Mazdas for me.
