So I'm on a mission to replace all of my oxygen sensors. I have a base model SOHC.

I purchased 4 sensors from rock auto but two say downstream front/downstream rear and two say upstream left/upstream right.

I'm assuming left and right is determined from looking at the pulleys. Making "Left" the front side of the motor and making "Right" the backside of the motor.

What are your thoughts?

You almost had it lol... no different from left and right on the car itself from bird's eye view or driver's view. "Pulley side" = front of engine; left = rear; right = front.

If you really want to get confused
Bank 1 (front towards radiator)
Bank 2 (rear towards firewall)

Front bank (Right)
Bank 1 sensor 1 upstream
Bank 1 sensor 2 downstream

Rear bank (Left)
Bank 2 sensor 1 upstream
Bank 2 sensor 2 downstream

LOL! I went through this myself once, until a wise counterman asked me if I needed the one with the 18" wire or the one with the 36'...
The sensors themselves are the same (at least left/right-front/back. I'm not sure about upstream/downstream. My '92 doesn't have downstream sensors)
Bottom line, look at the wire lengths to figure out what goes where.

Primaries and secondaries are not even confusing... and bank one usually corresponds with whichever has cylinder one.

People will butcher decimal places more than anything with a quarter inch plug gap and shit heh. Nevermind ten-thousandths specs...
