Hi all, first post here,,
I'm looking to fix this '93 3kgt SL with a code 41. I bought it about a week ago and she hasn't fully ran in a while :(
I can't seem to find ECUs with my part number MD188204 (1993 Cali Spec NA) within a reasonable price.
What other ECUs within the same age can I use? I found this link in older posts but I can't seem to understand the diagram...
Attached below is the diagram for my vehicle.
If I am correct I could use the part "MD192590" ?

Trying to diagnose my no start code 41 issue as most people say the ECU is the issue but before I post for help regarding this I'd rather look at what this forum has already brewed up.
Thanks everyone!!

To understand the chart you need to understand that "model year" is not the necessarily when it was made.
Most car companies come out with their new models around September. The 2022s will be hitting the dealers in September 2021. Most factories shut down in May for re-tooling and start up a few weeks later making the new models.
In other words the factory's year runs from June to May instead of January to December.
The chart goes by the manufacture date of your car (it's on the door sticker).
Your "93" would have been made between 6-92 and 5-93.
Unfortunately the MD188204 is the only Cali spec for your car for that year.

Have you tried opening up the ECU and taking a look? Blown injector drivers are usually pretty obvious.

Define reasonable price? eBay has a newly remanufactured unit with warranty for $325USD.

You can also send your unit in to be repaired ($120USD), or used as a core exchange and you get sent a new reman unit.

Ahhh that makes sense I didn't know those first numbers were months!

I checked it out already and I did not see any evidence of blown/leaky capacitors or injector drivers.

Yeah.. I think that is going to be my best option..
