STEALTH SUBWOOFER BOX V1

Hello all, happy to finally announce that my custom subwoofer box I designed and engineered for optimal sharp deep bass response is finally available. The Stealth Subwoofer Box is the subwoofer solution you've all been asking for and needed. This is a sealed subwoofer enclosure setup for 2 10' woofers, however you may modify for 8' woofers or odd shapes such as square type Kicker brand woofers (if that's your thing). I recommend going with dual 10" woofers. 12" woofers will not work in this cavity, just not enough room to achieve this; figured I'd mention this in advance since many would be curious. Two 10" is more than sufficient to achieve accurate clean deep bass in our cars, especially with an appropriate audio setup where you have crossovers and/or digital tuning between your highs, mids, and lows. This is not meant to be an SPL competition winning solution; the goal of this box was to provide an OEM+ quality solution without reducing accessibility of the rear hatch and storage by utilizing the notch behind the seats.

Features:
  • Stealth design - utilizes notched down space behind seats
  • Retain usability of rear bucket seats for passengers or storage
  • Seats up or down at any time (down for the visual appeal)
  • No fastening system or modifying the frame involved - uses geometry of rear seat area and hatch for safe and secure mounting
  • Easy no tools required removal for track days, cleaning, or folding seats down for additional cargo room
  • Optimal air volume for dual 10" woofers intended for sealed enclosures
  • Designed to allow spare tire access to be creeped up for access to storage compartments
  • Easy mono-amp mounting of Rockford Fosgate T500X1BR or JL MX500/1 or similar amplifiers on rear face
  • Proper tolerance for power and audio cables between subwoofer and frame
  • Quality OEM matched carpet for fabricated box

Under advisement from other owners I previewed this design to, I have decided to offer multiple ways for you to utilize my design. You can buy this as a fabricated ready to install solution or you may buy plans to build this on your own and modify/tweak it as needed for your situation. Building this on your own would indeed save you some money, but takes tools, time, possible frustration if this is new to you, and material costs. My fabricated boxes are professionally CNC'd (cut by a computerized industrial router) and fabricated; I have partnered with a local fabrication shop to provide this to solution with reasonable timing and exceeding quality. Shipping a subwoofer box safely is a pain in the butt, but I have come up with a way to ship these to your home without worry.

For removable sunroof and strut bar owners:
I do not have a version released yet that I feel comfortable with. Once I do I will release the plans for that design and offer that version in addition to this one. I am close. You are free to buy these plans and not wait for me though.

Send Payment(s) To:

Please indicate what you are buying and your address with ZIP code. If purchasing plans you must sign the disclosure I have attached below and email it to "[email protected]". The disclosure is just to protect me and the design from others sharing without paying for the design license. As you see with the plan options, you may purchase a digital model in addition to physical plans. Physical plans will be mailed. The digital models will be provided once the first few rounds of orders are through.

PDF Plans: $55 shipped
(option) digital plans + model +$35

1:1 Scale Plans: $75 shipped
This is ideal if you do not want to do any measurements and would rather use a pattern to cut the pieces out (like model airplanes)
(option) digital plans + model +$35

Fabricated Box: $450 + shipping
CNC cut to exact measurements, assembled professionally, 3/4 inch MDF, all joints wood glued and silicon sealant to prevent air leakage, fully carpeted, terminal cup installation ( you may choose to disclude this if you want to install your own or go a different route on placement and type of termination such as through hole terminal bolts). If you want to make custom cutouts and have something specific in mind please let me know at [email protected]; I'll try my best to accommodate any requests.
(Option) - You may request saddle-tan carpeting that matches the tan interiors; this creates a uniform look. This is a good option if you plan to cover the rear face with a styling plate.

Order Timing:
Plans will be mailed out once I have confirmed receipt of disclosure as soon as possible. Fabricated box orders will be FIFO (first in first out). Be sure to get your fabrication order placed quickly, because these are crafted one by one in the USA. currently I plan to begin getting boxes shipped out the beginning of May. As the list grows you may find yourself further along. Either way I will keep everyone posted here with timing on each box. Be sure to send me your address and zip code as shipping is a seperate charge and will be charged once your box is ready to be shipped.

Well that looks fantastic, but subs facing forward vs back? Let's just say, I would sure like to hear it haha. I LOVE the look, and how it can be hidden, I just am worried about the sound. I have had boxes facing forward, and back, and the difference is incredible how much better they sounds facing rear.

I will watch for some reviews. Thank you so much for making this either way!

Yeah product looks great for sure. I have two 10s in a bandpass box (sealed front of speaker and ported rear) that i have been running for about 8 years in my trunk. They are also facing backwards, and i too found that the sound was better when they faced that way as opposed to forward. Not saying this doesnt sound great as well because the cabin volume is so small it probably does.
As always love the feedback people provide; I welcome it.

Every single design has a balance of compromises, however these do sound excellent. Having two of these boxes so far in two out of three 3Ss I own and would never go back. I would never give up my hatch space, one of those things I am not willing to do. Lots of options out there for woofers designed for this type of setup. I will create a list in the discussion based forum for this box for other owners. JL audio, Pioneer, and a few other trusted names have the ideal woofers for this sealed enclosure (all thanks to the truck owning community with under rear seat type of enclosures). The sealed enclosure should be where all the work is done. Once again the primary goal here is sealed with accurate deep bass; wasn't going for rattle can SPL, haha :sneaky:. The seats won't attenuate the proper gain the woofer in the sealed enclosure is suppose to produce, as long as the right woofer is spec'd for the setup. I am partial to the whole forward versus backwards facing argument. The deep frequencies have very long wavelengths, each application is specific.

Looks very nice and clean. The benefit of forward facing drivers is they are protected, the only problem I see is that the subwoofer motor may be fighting with the back seat, you are adding cone weight essentially and not letting the subwoofers act like they should. Having some sort of grill or spacers to keep the box away from the seat to let the subwoofers move freely wouldnt be a bad idea. This also depends how much Xmax the subwoofers used have as well.

What is the volume and maximum mounting depth?

Thank you for the positive feedback! That is what I was going for :D

Solid statement; I thought I had posted the spec's and the note on the excursion protection. Thank you for your comment. I will get that posted now. I have given the subwoofer "lateral" tolerance to allow for either a factory grill or supplementary panel to be added (for customization). For example backlight acrylic or vinyl wrapped face with custom grills, etc. The speakers shown above are recessed below the frame of the subwoofer and have a small Xmax (maximum excursion for those who don't know) of .4". I pocketed the face of the subwoofer on this setup by 1/4".
Supplementary Technical Specifications

Maximum Subwoofer Mounting Depth
: 4.5"
Sealed Air Volume : 1 cubic ft.

For those that plan to keep their seats up or only occasionally put them down while loading the subwoofer, I would recommend installing either the factory grill or an aftermarket grill. I have purposely added tolerance in the design to allow for owners to install and customize panels to cover the faces of the box (front + back). This means you could potentially do a flush mount setup assuming you spec the subwoofer out correctly for no interference. This may be obvious for some, but as others have pointed out it is a good point to stress for newcomers. Each setup is specific, so please plan ahead and ask if you have any questions in regards to fabricated boxes For plans, you have the ability to modify those parameters without worry.

Note on mounting depth: there may be opportunities to go beyond this limit depending on magnet dimensions and sizing (because woofer is installed at an angle and there is a step up in the box. In addition, slight tweaks could be made to the plans or box itself. I would not recommend this though unless you are familiar with car audio. The proper woofer offerings via various manufacturers for this sealed volume (based on the time of writing this post) are approximately 4.5" or less. As a starting point, I recommend most look at Pioneer and JL Audio; excellent place to start looking or settle. I will have a breakdown of some recommended options in the discussion thread in general as to not clutter up the for sale thread.

At this current time I've decided to fabricate only 50 subwoofer boxes. Get yours before they are gone. Plans will be still available after 50 boxes have been sold, but take more considerable effort. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
UPDATE: See details added to the discussion thread for those looking for recommendations/suggestions on woofers and amplifiers.

UPDATE: Price Reduced for Fabricated Boxes + New Option(s)
(5/4/2020)

Good morning everyone, I have an update many would find favorable.
Times are tough and everyone is being a bit more sensitive with their spending.
In effect, I worked out some details around the fabrication and decided to take a
smaller cut in order to help make my box affordable for more people.
(At the end of the day, I would love to go to a meet and see my boxes everywhere)

Fabricated boxes will now be $315. Taking $135 off of the price! Hope this helps
many of you and those whom expressed interest but could not move forward.
This should also help cover and makeup for the shipping costs.

As a new option: I am now offering pre-cut pieces which will only require assembly.

This option is easier and more economical to ship as well. You can buy this kit for $175.
If you are handy and have some carpentry skills, you may want to take this option as a weekend project.
I will include the plans to the subwoofer box as well to guide you.

Lastly, the plans can now be mailed or sent over email. I have taken $10 off of the price for the time being.

I am only be offering pre-built / fabricated boxes for the time being as I am out of work. I may do another round
if this one goes well. Be sure to get yours before they are gone. It's going to be nicer outside soon, nothing
beats having a clean audio system to enjoy when cruising around or heading to the beach with friends.

Extra special discount: please help me by sharing on other 3S forums or social media. I will give you back
$10 for every person that buys a box or kit and that person a $10 discount. Please make sure they say you

Got a few of these in the pipeline. I'll post up pictures soon of some that will be shipped out.
Reach out to me if you have any questions prior to buying. Plenty of options based on your budget.

Get your quality subwoofer box here; don't be fooled by those selling poorly designed and fabricated boxes.
A subwoofer box is not just a "box". Needs to be designed for proper acoustic performance and matched to it's configuration.
Economy Reopening Bump lol
Post COVID-19 lockdown, economy reopening bump.

Prices are still as listed most recently. $315 for fabricated subwoofer box.

People that have recently expressed interest or waiting for subwoofer boxes. First come first serve. I will try to crank these out as fast as possible. Reach out to me if you want plans or parts to build yourself instead of a ready to go box.
