I just got a 92 SL Automatic and I'm starting to fix some of the problems. The first one I noticed was that the car just felt really slow. On the highway, I could barely accelerate. I was told by someone who knows alot about these cars that it is because my tach doesn't work, that its not letting the car go into overdrive and that the tach doesn't work because a wire has melted. I just want to know you guy's oppinions

I don't really feel a shift. But it sounds like it's shifting by the pitch of the exhaust

It's actually the opposite. It feels alright going from 0-40. Still slower than I'd expect but not that bad but above that it's really slow to accelerate

Yes I can and it will even downshift like it's supposed to whenever I push the gas down farther but it really doesn't do anything besides get loud.

I believe I have figured out the problem. The problem is in fact, the trans. It is slipping. So it feels slow because of that.
