Brian,
just last nite I took out the egr valve and inspected the two openings...and there was not carbon deposit or anything unusual about it. I plugged a hand pump to the vaccum nipple and created a pressure of 19.8 in Hg just like the repair manuals says and it holds the vaccum. So I proceeded with the next test of creating a vacuum of 1.8 in Hg and blew air through one of the passages...air didn't go through...so that's good...then I did the second test by raising the vacuum to 18 in Hg and then pumped air and the air leaked...so my egr valve is in good condition...do you have more insights as to what to check? While the plenum was out I inspected all the hoses...and found nothing, nada!!! then I plug back the everything and the hissing noise is still there....any ideas??? seems like the hissing comes from under the plenum...I thought it was the intake gasket that was leaking so I sprayed some wd40 but no increase in rpm....what can I do?????? thanks in advance brian....

p.s. please help me...I tried calling you but you are not open yet?
