Hello everyone, I have been chasing an intake leak and finally got the 3SX tester plate to do a proper test. After performing it. There was a very obvious massive leak on the throttle body gasket where it connects to the plenum, by the BISS. After taking off the Throttle Body, I realized the previous owner (or whoever) had put it on the wrong way, leaving the BISS port exposed and not sealed. I got a kit from autozone that had plenum gasket, (installed) EGR, and the Throttle body gasket which I am putting in right now. I checked their website and asked the guy to make sure it would fit, as the plenum did. But when going to put it on there was very poor fitment and the only way it would even work was upside down and backwards. Attached is the picture in the best orientation that I could put it in, but even that leaves a large gap. If anyone knows if this is just how it is and worked for them, let me know. If not I will probably just put the OEM one back in properly and torque it down right. Thank you all.

Yes, it works with whatever orientation you feel fits best. Mine has been in play going on four years now but with added copper spray. Pressure-tested to 40psi just fine.

I have come across 2 different styles of TB gaskets and the ones like you pictured never seem to work for me. I have had good luck with the Beck/Arnley 039-5009 and similar.

Im not so sure about that. I put mine on backwards more than one and I could tell a BIG difference. Not only the sound it made but the performance. I know it seems crazy because it doesnt look like it make a difference but I believe it does.

IMO this is the correct orientation.

@Paul H. is dead on. I can say from personal experience many years ago and more than once, just like you and Paul , I held it up and compared it to the throttle body, and my common sense concluded it made no difference which way it was oriented. Over months of funky running issues and seeing posts from others, I bought a different brand, new gasket having the pre-pressed TB impression on it, and installed it with the tab at the top firewall position, BOOM fixed.

PAPER/COMPOSITE GASKET =/= METAL GASKET WITH SPECIFIC ORITENTATION. PAY ATTENTION

You can be skeptical all you want. I could give two shits really. I am answering the question proposed with real-world success. Same gasket going on four years. Probably 60-80 logged pulls ranging from 33-38lbs of peak boost, tons of joyrides given to other 3S owners, and multiple 40psi pressure-tests done properly. This is in addition to always putting in the tuning time and effort into drivability.

People on forums and FB: nO, tHaT CaNNoT bE TrUe BeCaUsE mY pErSoNaL eXpErIeNcE iS dIfFerEnT.

Heads would explode with the other locals' builds, setups, and tunes that I have done using it. I still stock and use both this and OEM, but the OP is asking about the former. Like anything else in the world, YMMV.

I respect your opinion and you may be correct since its a composite gasket. You may have more experiece than myself or some other people but when it boils down to it, its still personal experience. I know for a fact that with the metal gasket (I wont use anything else) it makes a difference on orientation.
