Anyone got Motorola Talkabouts?

I saw them in Fry's today and totally wanted to get a set since they'd be awesome on the slopes! :D Does anyone here have a set? I was hoping one of you can answer my question since the people there didn't know a thing. When I was checking them out they ranged in price from $40 to $100 but they all have the same range of 2 miles and bout 500 channels. What constitutes the increase in price? I couldn't figure it out

possible solutions:

1) price ranges to see how much they can suck out of you for the same service,

or

2) Buy the $40 one and everything that sucks about it is probably fixed on the $100 version

Haha. Good answer Wraith. Here's a third possibility:

3) . The more expensive ones are better looking and lighter.
We sold those at Staples. And yes They are really nice.
The 40 dollar versions probably had less security encryption and stations. different frequency/channel amounts. Small shit.
Some are waterproof, they may all be i can't remember. Some came with rechargeable batteries(more expensive ones) the cheaper ones use double AA's. Umm....Headphone capabilities.

I have a pair and ski Mammoth all the time. Almost everyday. I found one in Avy 1 in the spring of 99. I then found another one in the fall of 99 in Droput 2. They both work good. One has two more feature than the other but they are compatable. They are cool on road trips if you don't have a cb.
Yep... the season's here again! I'm going for Thanksgiving so want to get these soon. Might go on EBay this weekend. Are they all waterproof?
We open the 8th. Are you coming down here on T-Day? It's pretty funny that I found these things and they work. Amazing. They are durable. Just keep the volume down. They are annoying to other folks.
The cheap-o Cobra's only have 15 channels of FMS(family radio service)

The 69 dollar on up Motorolas have 15 channels, plus an additional 21 privacy sub channels
