Still better engine access than my 2000 trans am...garbage! Lol. Like that btr intake! Apart from that stb, do you have easy access to rear manifold bolts?
I don't have AC though so little less clutter even though I have filled it up. My back to plugs still suck to get to (easiest to go from underneath on jackstands but I can from the top) but I'm sure it's better than a 4th gen. Just drop the engine out the bottom to do anything. lol

Yeah I can get to all of the manifold bolts.

As for The Expanse, new season is gonna be on Hulu, right?
Thanks and I have no idea. I'm watching on amazon prime. Normally my garage tv streams endless youtube vids, but lately it's been streaming Expanse while i'm working on the car.

Super excited!!

Took a lot of work, lot of phone calls, some parts from friends, and only one side actually complete, but have almost 50% more front travel on struts now!

Now I can get some good weight transfer and hopefully pour the power on.



BC 6.7” travel (I have the only two available and not a listed part number) vs Fortune auto 4.5”


Same thread pitch so you would think that would swap in......nope.... 0.6mm difference in diameter. So I ordered BC spring and locking collars and a buddy at Ridetech came through with some seconds for the lowers. Was able to swap my new Ridetech 162lb springs over and my fortune auto radial bearings too.




Had to do some cutting, grinding and spacing, but after a few hours, one is done and know what I need to do for the other side.

CAN’T WAIT TO TRY THEM OUT!

Other side done. It all barely fits. Rear control arm heim about maxed. outer tie rod heim about maxed.

But it DOES fit.

Little update, have been reckless with my tuning and setup and it finally caught up to me. Slight head gasket breach. Probably weakened weeks and weeks ago when IATs took it's toll on a spark plug before I put in my bumper intake tube. It's still totally drivable and boostable to 24psi but needs fixed before I do damage. Will be pulling engine this weekend to swap head gaskets, fix an oil leak and swap converters (bolt-together PTC coming next week). Then I might go dyno it in a few weeks at some buds that just got a hub dyno.

Fun comparison though....
Testing a new HD8088 from FP, 24psi, non-intercooled, lots of meth pre and post turbo, 112* IAT, 50* air temp
--90-140mph in 3.55 sec in mexico

FP400 84mm 25psi, intercooled and meth post turbo, 122* IAT, ~85* air temp
--90-140mph in 3.65 sec at Bowling Green, Street Car Takeover
--data from [email protected] pass

85* air temp is probably going to hurt non-intercooled performance though.

I'm going to be targeting a lot richer fuel mixture and adding timing and also not go for 30+psi and 200+ IAT unless I have something better than the E65 I get from the pump here. Like I said, a little reckless :D

2-3 hours? If I hustled and focused (the real problem. lol) probably a lot faster than that. Or I could just pull the one head, and swap head gasket, but I have an annoying oil leak on rear cover or pan (have new gaskets to install) and change converters, so add all of that up and I may as well just yank out the engine as is will be a lot faster that way. No worries.

and I doubt the head or block is hurt. That 90-140 time above at 24psi was after I ran 30-35psi and it layed over (assuming that's when it breached). Turned the boost down and did several more pulls. lol. Just some bubbles in my over flow tank when I got home. Nothing crazy.

Sorry this thread is like 119 pages so I might have missed it. Why don't you run an intercooler?
Mostly because I’m stubborn. I like my small tucked radiator. I originally only planned on 800hp. No intercooler needed. And I purposely centered the compressor housing to throttle body because I like how it looked.

Now, making a lot more than 800 and shooting for even more, I’d need a big intercooler to be effective and not restrictive. Air to air will probably be a problem with my small radiator. Water to air, I tried a small core because it was the only thing that fit and results weren’t worth it. (See above). Larger core would be great, but would have to re-do my whole setup.

So, sticking with loads of meth injection, keeping turbo in efficiency range and adding nitrous.

And eventually probably going full methanol for fuel. I already have almost everything I need to convert. But want to see how far I can go with ethanol.

That's the nice thing about aluminum... You can fix just about anything. Some of the train wrecks I've seen fixed are just amazing. As long as the block didn't get hurt, I'd say you didn't do too bad. Could have been a lot worse...

Yeah weld and resurface and I’ll be back in action. block is fine other than a nick at top of cyl sleeve that I filed down to take the edge off. Pretty sure this all started a couple months ago when I melted a spark plug. The nick in sleeve is the same place as where the gasket blew.

Had some indications it had a blown HG for awhile now. Little more steam in start up then I’d expect. Little harder to start then I’d expect. But I keep boosting the shit out of it and spraying the shit out of it and never completely let go....until I did a 30-35psi long pull and it laid over.

I checked plugs and turned Boost down to 24psi and ran great. Even bested my 25psi intercooled 90-130mph split. Then parked it to tear it down. Crazy that it was torched and still ran that good at 24psi.

Man, you aren't kidding, that you can pull an engine quick. You have a lot more energy than I have. lol. But ouch. Are those your Texas Speed heads? It's still pretty amazing to me, that combustion pressures can do that. Who are you going to have, do the repair work?

It took awhile to get it out. I forget how much shit there is to pull off. Yeah my PRC/TSP heads. Trying to find someone local. Or may weld myself. Or may just send it to Donnie. KakPerformance welded my block when I torched it.

I do have the rear cover replaced with new gasket, new oil pan gasket and one head gasket replaced already too. Just need head fixed and I’ll be ready to put other head on and engine back in.

Those are some decent sized holes man! How bad does the weld warp it - how much you gotta shave?
Welding shouldn’t warp it but it will need a few thou cut to flatten after building it up with weld. Unfortunately had quite a bit cut off already to get rid of the cut marks from Athena rings. But those blow on the block side. A lot easier to fix heads. I’m not a fan of the Athena gaskets anymore. Not only do they blow on block side, but you still tear up the heads too. MLS for me. Then I may go top fuel hoops and copper with a receiver groove, if I really push it.
