Not that I have the money to do this. But I hear about a lot of people converting to 6 speeds. Is there really an advantage to this? THink about it, your gears would be shorter, and when you got up to speed in 6th gear, it'd be the equivilant of getting up to speed in 5th on a 5speed. SO is there really any point to this?

The shorter gearing means you stay in the power band more, which means better acceleration. Longer gearing hurts acceleration.

The final gear ratio on 6th gear is lower than 5th on a 5spd, making for a higher top speed.

The transfer case on second gen's (6spd) is cast iron, instead of aluminum, making them less prone to catastrophic failure.

That should cover it.

I don't have all the details but I know you need the 6 speed shifter linkage and the forward most driveshaft section from a 6 speed car.

The 6 speed definitely helps out acceleration. The 3rd gear in the 5 speed is just too damn tall/long!
