1/4 mile, trap, and 60'

OK, I've got to do a statistics project for class comparing two predictor variables and a response variable. I've got to find out which predictor variable is better for estimating the response. I've decided to use trap speed and 60' times to estimate 1/4 times, and my guess is that the 60' time is going to be a better predictor than the trap.

So could you guys post these three things for me? I know some have it in sigs, but it'll save me a lot of time if I don't have to read through volumes of threads looking for timeslips.

Thanks a bunch!

If you compare our 60' times compared to something like an LS1 though...It can't figure out 1/4 mile times worth anything. But for this you are only using AWD 3si's right?

I'm only gathering data on AWD 3s's
:)

Thanks for the help!

BTW, don't include any times you have posted on the Minnesota "Fastest 3S" list, I have that.... I just want more data!

BTW again..... initial results say I'm an idiot. Trap is a WAY better predictor.

If you can wait a day or 2, Joe G. will probably post the results of the MI3S gathering at Lapeer Dragway last weekend. He will have the timeslips for at least 5 of the 3S cars that raced. Two 1st gen TT's, two 2nd gen TT's, and a 1st gen VR4.

Ahhh, I thought it was only AWD 3si's :D Or else as you can see from those other cars 60ft's your experiment would be pointless! Because as well all remember from HS Science...There is only one constant control :p

Actually, I could use multiple cars in stats.... but I would have to compare whether predictor variable a is better than predictor variable b for various types of cars. Stats has slightly different rules than other sciences. That would be a royal PITA experiment though, and I think this simple experiment is more interesting

Yah..This will be cool to see...All we will have to do in 3si's is launch the first 60' and get 1/4 times from it, heheh

You can't predict ET from 60ft times or trap speeds. I know of cars with higher trap speed, but slower times, and I know of cars with faster times, but worse 60ft times, as well as slower cars with better 60ft times.

those were all really old (before I learned how to launch) but I figured it will help you determine how important the 60' is!

I had a horrible time launching last weekend. I had trouble finding the happy medium between brutal tire spin, or dumping and bogging the motor.

Mods are:
GT357 turbos, 550 injectors, ARC-2 fuel controller, HKS EVC-IV boost controller, ATR downpipe, gutted pre-cats, no main cat, Borla Exhaust, Alamo Y-pipe, HKS SBOV, Magnecore wires, RPS3 clutch, Fidanza flywheel, Denso Stage 1 fuel pump, fuel pump hotwire kit.

Now I'm out of money:(

the scary(cool) part about jeff's 120 trap is:
a) That run had a 2+ sec 60ft had he gotten a decent launch how fast could he have been going at the end ?

b) He was not maxing his boost out. Based on his mods and the 100 oct gas he had, the 17-18 psi he was running was very conservitave.

imagine a 1.7-8 60ft and 20+ psi

So far, my stat analysis shows that 60' is not such a great predictor, but trap actually seems to be very good. Based on my data so far, I can confidently guess a 1/4 based on trap within about .3 seconds.

And that estimate would be even more confident if Matt92VR4 hadn't run that 15.xxx (outlier that's screwing up my data) ;)

Thanks for the slips! Please keep 'em coming!
