  1. These cars do better than I thought they would

    Drag Racing
Thank you for this info and I'm sure in the next few years my son and I may pick your brain on this stuff. :D First step is to get the car properly sorted stock for now. :D
  2. Numerous 3000 Stealth partouts

    Parts for Sale
I know it was asked but am wondering if you have any active aero parts...mainly the undertray but will take a whole assembly too.
  3. OBD1 not functioning 92 VR4

    Miscellaneous
Yea, it's the whole port. Car starts and runs fine...really good and strong actually though it's getting new plugs, wires, lifters, and a 60K within the next month and just got new oil yesterday just to make sure we know the service schedule...but the OBD port is dead. Looking at the wiring...
  4. OBD1 not functioning 92 VR4

    Miscellaneous
According to the manual you can. Pin 3 positive and pin 12 negative should show fault codes. We just got the computer out of a SL with ECS this past weekend as ours didn't have a controller when we bought it. What concerns me though is we can't read the ECM codes either. It's almost like the...
  5. OBD1 not functioning 92 VR4

    Miscellaneous
So the ECS is not functioning...flashing Sport/Tune lights..,.and when I went to diagnose it using the OBD1 port, I got no readings from the port (pin 3 and pin 12). Then I checked for engine codes (pin 1 and pin 12). Also nothing. I tried with a home made test light and now a brand new multi...

Oh man...I hope the diff adjustment resolves most of it but I assume we're going to need to do engine mounts and carrier bushings at some point. The driveshaft check for diff adjustment seems like it is way over the spec 5mm of allowable travel (I think it's 5mm...whatever the spec in the manual...
  7. Front Active Aero project

    General
Okay, from the pictures I had seen that's how I thought that part came down on the bumper. That made sense. I could make soemthing like that no problem. Have some ideas for that. As for the flex at the back, I'm going to have to look more into that to figure it out but some hinges come to mind...
  8. Front Active Aero project

The vertical portion bends? Hmmm....that would be a trick. I wish I could see one of these in person and observe how it works. I'm not sure where it hinges or anything as all that is missing from this car.

No the clunk is pretty sever. Not quiet at all and far more noticible riding in the passenger seat than the driver's seat. The stalling was the clutch adjustment. Hasn't stalled since he adjusted that. Yea he knows to only use 91 octane. My Talon was the same way. LOL He is doing 80% of the...
  10. Front Active Aero project

    General
Hey guys. I have a question I haven't been able to find an answer on regarding the front active aero. The front aero on my son's 1992 VR4 is busted. The undertray is missing completely and it looks like the motor mount is bent. The motor still functions fine though. Because of the bent mount...
  11. Lights turn off but stay up when right signal activated

Thanks striker. I figured that but that one thing with the headlights made me wonder and I wanted to verify.
  12. Lights turn off but stay up when right signal activated

    Miscellaneous
Just a bit of background, my son has a 1992 3000GT VR4 he just got and it really seams the car was thrown together to get it to auction. Thus, many of the systems in the car are out of adjustment or not working. While we're tackling as many as we can, some are just odd and this is one of them...

Thanks for all that. I am use to GM shop manuals and they are written so someone, like me, that knows the difference between a box end wrench and a ratchet wrench are and not much more can figure out what to do. This one seems to ASSuME you know more about automotive maintenance. If stealth316's...

    New Owner Questions
I've seen the motor mounts for sale but I saw them listed as Upper front, upper rear, lower front and lower rear (I think it was front and rear...maybe left right...I have to go back an check). Are the roll stop motor mounts part of these four motor mounts or are they something completely...

We have a friend that specializes in JDM cars...has a R32 and R33...he did a quick glance at it but we're going to have him go over it in a bit more detail. I checked the oil when we bought it, no signs of contamination. Also checked it again a two days after to see if all looked well. Coolant...

Thanks PhailosaurusRex, that's exactly what we needed. My son got his car on a lift today and said the driveshaft was way out of spec. It rotated between 1/16th and 1/8th of a revolution. I'm guessing this is responsible for the thunk and vibration at speed.

    New Owner Questions
My son just picked up a 1992 3000G VR4 for cheap and, naturally, it has a long list of issues needing to be addressed. Some are not that big of a deal (I mean, how critical is it to replace a power radio antenna in 2019?) but others seem as though they need to be addressed right now. This car...

Sweet. I hope to connect with some locals to help figure this stuff out and be involved in meets and stuff. I noticed they had a meet at the Mitsubishi HQ in Cypress...is that an annual thing?

LOL, oh yea, pictures or it never happened! LOL Thanks for the welcome. We are in the Temecula area of Southern California. I'm willing to bet there are a couple members down this way.

I personally am not the new ower of a 92 3000GT VR4, my 21 year old son is, but we're a car family (I have a modified Saturn Sky and my fiance has a tricked out Veloster turbo) and we do this as a family effort. I'm sure my son will be along shortly with pictures and what not... I've already...
