The dates are now set for this year's CT Oktoberfest meet. This is the last large meet of the season each year in New England and always has a great turnout. This year we have decided to expand the event into a full weekend with some optional Saturday activities as well for those who are interested.

SCHEDULE

Sunday, October 6th, 11:30AM
Lunch and Cruise - Meet at Harbor Park, 80 Harbor Dr., Middletown, CT, 06457

We will be bringing in food for a picnic on the banks of the Connecticut River, then at approximately 2:00PM will leave for a scenic 30 minute cruise to Gillette Castle State Park in East Haddam. After we are finished at the castle there will be an optional ferry ride back across the Connecticut River on the historic Chester Hadlyme Ferry.

Fees:
Parking at Harbor Park: free
Picnic: $5 per person (estimate)
Parking and self-guided outdoor walking tours at Gillette Castle: free
Entry into Gillette Castle: $6 per person
Hadlyme Ferry: $5 per car

Saturday, October 5th

11:30AM - 2:30PM - Zip Line tour at Empower Sports in Middletown. Their standard rate is $49 per person but if we have enough people we may be able to get a group rate as low as $30 each. We need to reserve this event several weeks in advance so if you plan on attend you need to post and let us know as soon as possible and payment will be due prior to final booking.

7:00PM - 11:00PM - Sun Brewfest at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT. This event costs only $25 per person for four full hours of beer tasting. Food is available at an additional cost. If you wish to attend you will need to purchase your own tickets at the Mohegan Sun Arena box office or on-line here: Mohegan Sun - Connecticut - Sunbrewfest
This event of course is limited to those aged 21 and over and keep in mind that if you attend you will need to plan an additional couple hours at the casino prior to driving home afterwards. Once we get a better headcount for this event we'll post possible meeting and carpool locations.

Several local members have offered overnight housing for those coming from out of state who would like to attend both days. There are also several area hotels available at reasonable rates. The Super 8 in Cromwell, CT, is close by and has rooms for about $60 per night.

If the weather ends up being rainy or too cold on Sunday we will move the lunch to a nearby restaurant. Updates will be posted on the main thread.

Please sign up on the main thread in the New England forum if you would like to attend: http://www.3si.org/forum/f87/6th-annual-ct-oktoberfest-meet-oct-5-6th-2013-a-598906/

Hope to see some of you there!

No one from 3SNY representing? Well fine, we are tired of being upstaged by your cars anyway.

But seriously, there are already more than 20 cars signed up. Should be a great time. Less than a week away!
