Default What is this? What is that?

Im going to have a few of these questions I feel.... may as well just have one thread about it.

First is about a green wire w/red stripe, the aftermarket alarm was wired into it, and runs from the front to back of the car along the inside of the rocker panel on the driver side.

Next is this relay pack, behind the fuse block in the driver's foot well,
Attachment 267997

Next what is this dirty, rusty n nasty thing?

First… It would be good to put your car info in your profile so that year, trim and etc. can be seen by all (like in my profile). That is important since wiring varies between years and trim levels.

Your car must be automatic since last picture is the TCU (transmission control unit) which gives impression that car was in high water at some time.

Ill get that info added!

So I may have shift issues with the trans due to the TCU looking as such. Ill have to be on the look out for one.

lol, looks like the black-box from the Titanic.

I agree, the car had to of been submerged to have a TCU that looks like that. Water intrusion can do nasty stuff to electronics, I'd be tearing into the interior and checking everything.

That is the only sign of rust I have found to this point, BUT, it has an engine swap, I should be an OBD1 car, but it has an OBD2 engine in it.

Right now Id be happy to get it to fire off and idle, then I will delve deeper off into it.

At this point I am really thinking its the crank sensor, tach is not moving when being cranked, no injector click, no spark.

MPI relay clicks when key is turned, both CEL and SRS lights pop on for about 5 secs then go out, I have fuel to the fuel filter. I pulled the ECU and eyeballed the CAPS, they look good, no noticeable swelling, leakage or discoloration of the circuit board.. passed the sniff test.. no smoke smell to it.

Tonight I plan on popping the ecu pack in and grabbing my VOM and run the testing on the crank sensor along with the PTU under the coils.

Does the capacitors look like they have been replaced (might take pictures) before you put ECU back in. They don’t necessarily show visual problems but can still be bad.

Might make sure heater box drain hose is not plugged, causing water to run out bottom of box onto TCU.

Edit: Or even a leaking heater core.

Well Seems I am out of attachment space, even after I deleted other attachment pics.

So I was wondering, since the engine has been swapped, are the ECUs the same for the SOHC as the DOHC engines? as far as OBD1 is concerned?

The sticker on my ECU is
MD192591
E2T35694

Next what letter of the VIN will let me know what engine the factory installed? 8th?
