What's the minimum number of brackets that're actually needed for the 6G72? Do the turbos really need to be connected to the block? Does the intake plenum really need to be supported from the rear head? How much of this stuff can I actually get rid of before I start encountering issues?

well, you could get rid of most of the stay brackets, but I wouldn't recommend it. they help to take stress off important parts, like flanges, mating surfaces, etc. If you're trying to cut weight, I'd definitely leave those. The potential for damage is a lot greater than the reward of cutting off a few lbs

I got rid of some, but left the manifold braces and trans stays obviously. Got rid of the big plenum stay, but kept the smaller one on the drivers side. You can chop a huge chunk off of the ac bracket if you delete ac.
