Default Used car dealer rant

So, just picked up a VR-4 Spyder from a used car dealer hear in Wa. Owners son was given some money to pick up some cars to sell. Has an STi, R32 and the VR-4. talked to them briefly about the car before I drove it home. They didn't know much about the car besides that it was TT and convertible. They told me issues the car had. They replaced a few vacuum lines and was impressed on how loud the stock bov was. Salesman says it was a waste to buy it because the GTR and Sit was so much faster.
I assumed the car and drove it home. On the way home, which was a 2.5 hr drive, I noticed a loud howling coming from the driver side under boost. Bov was loud and did lack power under load in 5th and 6th.
The next day, I started going through the car and What in the Flying Fark did I find. First issue that I came across with that the Brake was pull off the frame, no prob easy fix. Next I check the bov and noticed that it was installed backwards, not sure if that was why it was louder that normal. Then the next part took me two days to figure out what and why the howling was there. Well come to find out, they replaced a few old vacuum line, including the clutch booster and brake booster lines with regular lines. Had to run to the part store and get some check valves and put it back together.
For now, no more howling and boost is what it should be. With all the vacuum leaks no wonder they thought it was slow. Id say it was only boosting around 9psi...

Welcome to the forums! A VR4 Spyder is a nice find... I forget the numbers but they're super rare.

Welcome to the forum. Also, welcome to 3/S ownership; regardless if it is a used car dealer or a service shop, or even a Mitsubishi dealer for that matter, very few people outside of this community truly know and/or understand these cars. So, it will somewhat resolve to you having to figure things out in order to keep the car running properly and ensure repairs are made correctly.

No; and, despite my best efforts to get back up there, it has not been in the cards. Why do you ask? Forgive my ignorance (I blame age) but did we hang out when I lived there (2005-2008)?

Lost my noggin info for my original account Habu Racing back in the day. I had the Indy Stealth around that time. Then built the 97 with the 16G's quote=AlmosN8kd;1056304331]No; and, despite my best efforts to get back up there, it has not been in the cards. Why do you ask?
