Do it yourself, water pump is a relatively easy change on these. You might also want to consider other things like new timing belts, etc as now would be a good time having to get down there anyway.

Relatively easy change???
Step away from the hookah! To R/R the water pump you MUST remove the timing belt... and if you are going to the trouble of removing the water pump, you are a fool if you don't replace the timing belt and tensioner. The timing belt is a pain in the ass unless you have timing belt experience, and even if you have, it is STILL a pain in the ass. There is a reason that even people that do them all the time still charge 100s of dollars in labor alone. Just taking everything down to get to the timing belt is a pain in the ass (I know, I did it last weekend)... not saying you shouldn't do it, but it is also something I would never recommend a novice attempt.

well after looking over some how to's i figured the timing belt and a few other things would be replaced at the same time. I'm just afraid of biting off more than i can chew on this...and afraid of Fing it up too. I have done timing belts before and they were a pain in the ass.

Alittle far from you but I know a shop in Irving "Import Auto repair" that does it for around $450 with parts included. I've had one DOHC and one SOHC done there and mitsuBitchi got hers done there too. No problems to report!
(also got my mom's qx4 suv done there last month) Quote:

Down side to that car is it needs about 600$ worth of body work front bumper passenger side fender passenger side marker and headlight maybe hood too will need to be fixed replaced ![]() |
