a) Historically, the organizer loses money doing the shirts
b) We would rather focus on aspects that are critical to a successful gathering
c) No one really wants a t-shirt (admit it)
Wow, 2 extremely smart moves right off the bat. Technically 3 because Austin is such a great city to have a car meet.
If there is only one date...release it!!!
I need to start putting together the string of H3S TX3S warm up meets. Hopefully I can convince more than just myself and a mitsu/mexican/whatcha thing to show up this year.
We did, however; toss around the idea of Hot Pink Speedo's with the phrase "Mitsu Powa!" written across the front - but we figured that there'd only be one individual interested - and nobody really wants to see Mark prancing around in a Speedo.
lmao! thats all i can say, and hopefully i can make it this year, but i have a feeling i might not be in town when this meet is scheduled.
Shirts really are like badges for all the gatherings you've been to. I've got TONS of them, even tho my car never makes it to them. I have a feeling the haze will not be making it to TX09 this year even though she will only be inches away from completion.

The organizers don't loose money if they take orders in advance, charge with the shirts cost, and DON'T ORDER EXTRAS hoping that someone will buy them.
To say "No one really wants a t-shirt" is a bit of a hyperbole don't you think?

I never buy the shirts for any events, however, after thinking about it, most sponsors want their name "in lights" for their sponsorship dollars. They like the idea of having their logo on something that will be worn by lots of people, multiple times.
Mark and I discussed this over the phone at length yesterday. We (the Austin Group) decided against shirts Only because we felt that for our first year doing this, we really wanted to focus on what was important - planning the event, getting sponsors, securing good rates on everything. I let Mark know that if anybody else wanted to step up and do the shirts this year, we'd welcome it - and hell - I'd buy one. From what it sounds like, Mark may be taking this role again.
