Can't wait to see the results. Glad you decided to go ahead and get it done. I am growing tired of waiting to work on mine.

I actually think it was a combination of a turbo on the way out, and the rings seating... after I got back from Memphis, the smoke diminished a lot, and she passed a compression test... so I feel good about the rings.

MAJESTIC TURBOCHARGERS WILL DO SAME DAY TURNAROUND ON WALK IN TURBO REBUILDS.

Granted, the reason they could do a quick turn was that they had all the parts... it ended up needing:
  • A full set of seals and bearings (there was some minor scoring on the main bearings, and a bit too much wear on the thrust bearing)
  • Honed out the bearing in the cartridge (swapped out cartridges, and will hone mine out and keep on the shelf)
  • Replacement shaft due to some scoring, and a replacement hot-side impeller... they even clipped it to match!

I thought about putting it in tonight so I could say I pulled it, had it rebuilt, and put it back together in the same day, but naa... I'm tired, I may start the reinstall, but will probably finish it up tomorrow or Friday night.

How much because i need to get mine done.

Nope, rebuilt 9Bs are NOT cheaper, basic cost to rebuild is the same regardless the size (unless you are rebuilding a ball bearing turbo), rebuild costs at Majestic start at $335.

With 9Bs you are MUCH better off upgrading. If you only want to upgrade a small amount, go with the 13Gs... they were actually an option from Mitsu as their "sport" turbo.

Yah....ive had good and bad experiences with majestic turbochargers... i've had a set of 13ts converted there which turned out excellent. Also just a few straight rebuilds and ended up being quoted somthing reasonable and having to pay 3-400 dollars more for BOGUS shit like "your wastegate was shot" when it wasn't, and your compressor cover couldn't be cleaned up" which was total bs even though it was in good shape. all in all im not so sure id go to them again but i thought id throw my experiences in there.
