lol there is just so many things to brag about on these cars an oil guage just wouldnt make the list... I do have the guages they just arnt installed.
No oil light came on. Thats what was the strange thing. I do know that the oil sending unit is covered with lube from the axle boot breaking. I still have the 10w-30 RP oil in there do you think I should try 20-50 with some of that lucas stuff? I doubt that will take away the "knock" though.

Check out the sending unit first. Mine was the same way, covered in axle grease. Clean it up and see what you can do. Also, check your oil level, make sure you're not a quart low or something stupid like that.
I run 20W-50 in all of my 3S cars. However, as we approach colder weather, running a thinner weight is more ideal. First try a 10W-40 oil. If that isn't doing it, then go ahead and do 20W-50. Stay away from the lucas additive. YES, it will raise your oil pressure, but you will find longterm problems with it in the future.

I have no idea man, I haven't heard it. I know that when my car is injured, that I always perceive things to be worse than they are. Its kinda like an anti-placebo effect, where when something goes wrong you pick up on other things going wrong as well. That's what I'm hoping is the case, its happened to me before.
Clean sending unit/harness down there, reconnect. Check oil level, and if grossly low, top it off. If not low, drain and replace w/ Castrol 10W-40. Swap filter as well. When replacing filter, fill the new one up. It will take a little while to get it full. Fill engine with 4.5qts oil. See if problem/low oil pressure persists. |

Thanks for the help. I will give that stuff a try tonight and let you guys know tomorrow. On a side note the alltrac work was pushed forward thanks to this and the engine is out once again. Only took 4 hours!
I know what happened. You guys quit crossing your fingers. ![]() |

Well I didnt think it would work but I gave it a try. No go. Rod knock has become alot louder. Time for an engine swap. The alltrac will be back together and running within two or three days so the vr4 will go under the knife around the same time. As it stands now the red SL still hasnt sold so looks like im gonna have to do the swap myself or go buy an n/a engine to stick in there.
3 engine swaps needed at the same time is no fun... |
