Now that im here in Alaska, A VR-4 like I wanted is hard to find. I havent even seen one around yet. There's a few N/A's around but most of them are junk and not for sale. Soooo, I bought a Mazda Speed3. Its only FWD but it does come with an LSD and traction control. Its stock power is rated at 263 hp and 280 lbs of torque. It pulls hard considering the its FWD and only 3100 pounds. Im not sure what size the stock turbo is but i do know its a 2.3L DOHC. The intercooler has to go though. Its a top mount and it really just gets soaked in heat killing alot of potential power. Cobb tuning also makes whats called the Access port. Its a small palm device that opens up the base map and allows the user to adjust using the stock sensors. Apparently the stock O2 works as a wide band with the cobb tuning. If you have that, there is no need for aftermarket gauges. It really does everthing for you. Not down to the T like you can get the AEM EMS but its close and for less than half the cost. I need to wash it so I can take some pics and post them!
I miss you all and will be posting some pics of this beautiful state. Hope to see everyone soon! Ryan

The question is, do you have to plug the intercooler in during the winter to keep it from freezing overnight?

Yes and Yes I lived in Alaska for 22 years, there are a few VR4's out near Palmer and Wasilla if your in Anchorage and ive only seen 1 in Fairbanks. Id garadge your car with an extra heater if your driving it in winter, and plug it in at work if you can. Otherwise just let it sit in the garadge and get a beater for the winter. that would be the best bed id hate to hear abought the Ice getting ahold of your car.

Good luck with the higest stock horsepower FWD car in those climates! Seriously, be careful man, winter is going to be brutal.
If you ever find the time, check out Denali national (state?) park. Its ~5hrs north from Anchorage. On your way back, I'm not sure the name of the town, but its just inbetween Anchorage and Denali, is a very good side-of-the-road pizza place. I know that sounds vague, but now that you live there, I'm sure you understand the wilderness aspect of it a bit more. The Brewhouse in downtown is also excellent. Dammit, I wish I was there. ![]()

Been there and done that with the Denali national park. Someone on post has an R/T TT that is in really nice shape. When im gone the new car is going to be just sitting. And it will have a block heater with a full cover! We wont have too much room in the garage but when i leave for a long period of time it will go into storage on post!
