So I've spent the last 2 weekends, a day of vacation and a few afternoons putting all kinds of parts on my car. Mainly replacing the tranny. After filling it and the transfer case with fluids on Monday, I noticed a steady drip coming from the bottom of the transfer case. I assumed at first that it was the transfer case and made arrangements to take it to the dealer. Due to my suspicios nature, concerning other people working on my car I decided to take the transfer case off and give it a good look myself. As it turns out it's not the transfer case, but the output shaft seal. A little research and I learn the only way to change it is to pull the tranny and take off the bell housing. I even had the wheels back on the car and now I have to start thinking about pulling it all apart again. I am open to any ideas, suggestions, words of encouragement or possibly the use of a small firearm with one good bullet. Just to put me out of my misery.

Ok, I feel like watching that old movie with Mel Gibson and Sissy Spacek "The River". Anyway I'm diving back in. Going to take the wheels back off and see if I can have that tranny on the ground by dark. Yippee!!! I can't wait.

ok it's out. less than 2 hours. Would have been quicker than that but went to Autozone to get a ball joint tool. Then I couldn't figure out where I put it and looked forever, still don't know. Didn't need it anyway. Was just thinking of the first time when I replaced them. Oh, if it would just go back together than quick. Time to get a beer and jump in the pool.

Damn man. I know what that feels like, but damn that sucks. I think I sourced the gasket I need for the Conquest, so maybe I can get that one running before I have to go out of town again. Hell, maybe if our cars are running this weekend we can have a Plano-Allen-McKinney mini-meet/dinner in celebration or something.

why did you split the balljoint? Take the strut loose at the knuckle and you can swing it down enough to get the cv axle out. Much less chance of breaking things.
