Did you switch it to 25 spline? the 18 spline can be done in the car..

Yea, forced upgrade to the 25 spline. I'm sure we all think they went to the bigger shaft to provide us with a stronger drive train. However, once again I can only imangine the little meeting between a few Japanese engineers.

"Dose cwazy Amerwikans figured out how to change dat a shaft seal wid a PVC pipe. What a we goin to do?" " I know we make de shaft wittle bit bigger, den day can't get de seal pas de fry wheel" "yea, yea, yea, den we put dat seal in from de back so dey do all dat work and den still have to drop de tranmission."

Think about this statement...... when 3-4 3S guys get together, in 99% of cases, all parties involved end up standing around bullshitting for hours on end. The other 1% is the rare case where the car's owner is working (or attempting to work) on the car but keeps getting distracted by the other 3S owners standing around bullshitting.

Although, assuming I get the Conquest running, I would love to come over and help distract you from working on your car!

I usually take the control arm off the hub OR control arm off the sub frame if i have to, and the tie rod end off the hub and then swing the strut asm out a bit and pop the axel out of the hub then out of the tranny. It's a little more work but id rather not have to align anything when im done.

I had to change out the struts and springs so I already have to get an alignment. I will get the life time one at Firestone this time, that way I can change things as much as I want.

More people does not mean faster... we had 4 of us trying to get Damon's tranny in... There was no drinking and no bullshitting, but we screwed around with it for 5 hours, and could not get the damn thing back up in the car.better to have fewer people with more experience than just lots of people.

Hell, see if you can talk Adam into coming up from Austin! I have no shit seen him pop a tranny on in less than 10 minutes (he did it on the pumpkin), one minute it was on the ground, then next, he was popping in the bell housing bolts... it was freakin' amazing!

I've replaced the output shaft seal on a 25 spline as well. You just have to be careful... But it can be done with the trans still on the car. I wish I would have seen this earlier.

If you already have the trans dropped it would be even easier.

you can changed it on an 18 but, from everyone including Kormex the seal goes in from the otherside of the bell housing. So Tranny had to come out. Ordered the whole seal set and will be replacing them all.
