Default Stealth SOHC oil pressure issue need mechanic

Looking for a good mechanic to look at my daughters SOHC stealth. The oil drops at oper temp when idle. During speeds it is up and normal. I have been told it can be one of two things the oil pump or some cam issue. Can anyone help me out on this or shoot me some more info.

Thanks

Sounds like an oil pump issue to me - any chances your oil pan is dented? Can you get under there to look? Also, what part of Ohio are you in?

I will have to look. I hope its the pump. Some mechanic I talked to said some cam seal is also an issue and if it neds that your better off putting a new engine in.... heard of that? I am from the Clevleand area.

the pressure will go down at idle. as you accelerate pressure builds up and the needle climbs. how far down does it go?

drastic pressure drops from cold to hot are usually caused by worn components. as the oil thins out at operating temperature, it finds new ways to leak past in places it couldnt before. Oil pump can be a reason but so can bearings or other places that can get high wear.

First step is the CONFIRM the pressure! Dont believe the gage! If you get less than 10# per 1k RPM you have a problem worth worrying about. If its better than that, the engine will live. After that You decide on how much money you might want to spend.
