Default Exhaust Setups

Heres my exhaust setup I've been talking about. Its a bit louder than most would like, but I got used to the car in my sig making quite a bit of noise, so its no problem for me. Tell me what you think:

By the way, its an actual video, not just a 30 second sound clip. Sorry to those that are just looking for the grumble.

If you have any questions or comments, I'd love to hear them.

PS. Me and Stealth_E are trying to start a thread with a compilation of different setups and sound clips, so feel free to add your own into the mix.

Think they call it a Fireman exhaust setup.

I had similar with a 40 series. Do you get the formula 1 sound at 5k+ when the baffles move in the plenum?

What do you mean, formula 1 sound?

It doesnt get as farty as I thought it would into the higher RPMs. I was hoping to get a similar Mustang sound, but I like what I got. And in real life it sounds a lot deeper than on the camera.

Nice shoes!! I'm guessing that blow back after you put on the new exhaust is normal? I'm sure your neighbors are just as happy with your new exhaust as you are Too bad my county has e check like a mofo i cant pass anything without a cat and swaping it out everytime i want to pass an echeck is a pain in the a. Good video, i can see you had a little fun with the editing software

Yeah, its just the oil coating on the pipes burning off. It went away about 20 minutes of driving. And I still have two cats... so I wonder if I could pass. It took about 45 minutes to make the video, then about 5 hours to render, and another 4-5 to upload to Youtube with their maintenance.

Thanks though.

You know how a formula 1 car sounds? High pitched.

Well when I had the 40 series on my Black SL at low rpms and low load the car sounded mustangish with a v8 grumble but high in the rpm band there was a NOTICEABLE switch in tone as it went from grumble to high pitched scream.

I called it the 3keffect because I could literally make people look over their shoulder like WTF as I cross 5k rpms. There were many inquiries as to what I had done to that black one but it was all minor bolt ons. All because of how drastic the switch was.

like this

thats not my SL but thats close to how it sounded after 5k rpms with a grumble down low similiar to yours.

Wow, mine doesnt get that high pitched, but it does get a pitch change around the higher RPMs. It sounds real grumbly under 3K, then it slowly gets higher pitched. In normal driving, I dont get it over 3 grand anyway (With the way gas is), so its always deep and throaty. I put a glass pack on it during installation to see if I liked it, and it took away all the balls of the car. I also tried a few other mufflers that my friend had sitting around, but the Super 44 gave it the sound I was looking for.

I had a 3inch setup downpipe, test pipe, flowmaster 40 series - t 4 inch square z28 style tips.

It was gutless down low but would open up in the midrange to 7k rpms.

Do you have a picture of the back of your car with the tips? I was thinking about putting the camaro tips on it, but I went with quad hooker tips. I did mine 2.5" pipe from downpipe to muffler, then 2.25" out of the muffler, hoping to keep down the rice sound and still leave some kind of low end power.
