Hey Guys,
I've had my VR4 sitting for quite some time now and I want to get it running again. It needs a lot of work but first things first. I started to take the E brake apart to replace the pads and I got stuck, I can't get the last part off. I was wondering if there was anyone in the area that could come to my house in Haverhill that has dealt with the E brake before and help me out. I'm planning on bringing it to a garage to possibly get the engine and transmission rebuilt and fixed but I'd like to be able to get all of the wheels on there nice and snug again. Thanks, Dustin

Um. Did you pull the axle? I'm in the middle of refurbing my calipers and adding SS brake lines. I was thinking about doing the E-brake, too, but when I looked it up in the manual it seems you have to pull the axle to take it apart. So I'm still thinking about it.

Hmmmm. I'm not sure about that one.
I was able to do my ES, which is FWD without ABS, without pulling the hub. Getting to the shoe retainers was a bit of a challenge, I ended up cutting a notch into the end of a pair of long needle nose pliers to grab them with since I couldn't get the regular tool in behind the hub. I haven't been into the TT yet. Looking in the manual the ABS sensor ring might create too much of a clearance issue to get in the same way. If Dustin still wants a hand maybe we can run over there and take a look since he has his apart... Ok ok.... maybe just I'll go look.... (I'm still hoping for the cute sister.. ) |

I took it apart so long ago that I pretty much forgot what I had done. That's why I was hoping to find someone who had some sort of experience with it. I have a pic of what is actually still attachted to the car. It's just a rusted clip i believe that is holding the last piece in place. Actually when I just went to look pretty much everything is rusted.
It'd be awesome if someone could come check it out for me. I plan on having the car towed to a garage but I can't move it as is. And sorry, no sister. |

i just did my e-brakes over new cables new shoes didn't take to long to do they were rusted really bad though. getting them off was a pain but over all went smoothly and worth it. had to adjust the cables a few times though. Overall fairly simple you don't take much out besides the rotors.
