I dont see any reason we cant plan for sometime in June. I wanna find out when the detroit bbq is first though, I really want to make it out to that this year.

Miraculously when I showed up to pick up the car from Midas they had the numbers for me. I had hounded them relentlessly and I shouldn't have to do that, especially if I had agreed to let them do $2800 worth of work. Actually there are 2 dealers in Jackson so I can't say it was Xtreme who didn't return their call.

Nonetheless I'm thrilled with the service and professionalism I received at this particular dealer. I'm sadly well aware of how bad some dealers can be. Ask me about the Taurus over a beer. Service advisor said that the mid-shaft carrier bearing seal was showing pretty good wear but was still working fine. The car was bought in Jackson and my Mom still lives there so it made sense to get the car right before bringing it home. Now I'm wishing today away so I can bring home my new toy.

Looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the gang here. This is why I love owners forums...good advice, great help and first class peeps.
Well they all show carrier bearing wear, its not very serious just can be annoying. I also own a taurus, let me guess headgaskets, tranny, and heater core? Im sure we'll get together this summer.

Thanks for taking on a huge burden. I loved my 6 years in Uncle Sam's Army but it was a much different time in the world.

Had a '96 Taurus which was the 1st year of the re-design. Learned a lesson on not buying the 1st year of a new car. There were several issues with it including the power distribution switch which should have been a recall. It would take out the power windows, electric steering, etc which made the car a challenge to drive. Also had issues with getting Ford to honor the initial warranty so it made for an overall bad experience. My DD is a Monte Carlo SS I bought new in 2002 and GM isn't any better so guess Dodge will have to be my mfr of choice. That's fine by me as I had an '89 Horizon with 234K that looked and ran like a showroom new car until it met the backend of a TrueGreen truck!

Sorry for the late reply, but your compression is really high. Your compression should only be 185 according to Checking Engine Cylinder Compression on a 3000GT (6G72)

I'm still trying to check if those numbers are right. I'm getting conflicting information. Some say it's supposed to be 210 (in which case your cyl #3 if fubard) yet supercar says it's supposed to be 185 in which case you probably have carbon buildup. It's essentially raising your compression ration but lowering your displacement. I believe Seafoam would help get rid of some of that carbon.

I've done seafoam once, could do it again tho couldn't hurt.

if you can get matt to log your car, see if you're knocking or pulling timing. This seems to be a mystery for some reason

Shop manual says 185, so I'm gonna have to says your compression is ridiculously high. The best way i can think to deal with that is to pull the heads and clean out all the buildup, but I imagine that's not something you'd wanna do.
