If it has jumped time before that valve is bent, do a compression test on that cylinder before you do anything, if compression is good then you can replace it, also compression test afterwards to make sure.Well you can get it my shed, lol. And since you probably dont want to pull the timing belt off to do it.... you have to compress the valve spring, ive done it before with a screwdriver but I dont reccomend it. Search for homemade valve spring compressor and you can make a tool for cheap. Should make your car run a little healthier with that, hehe. edit. dsm's also use that rocker, not positive that all of them did. Last edited by sublime_whatigo : 04-16-2008 at 04:59 PM. |

now to Matt: sry if you wanted to remain inconspicuous ![]() and ok so let me get this straight. Step 1: Compression Test Step 2: build or somehow acquire compressor for valve spring Step 3: get rocker from you? Could this be causing my hard starts and/or my 17.7 1/4 mile? lol Also if it doesn't have good compression, then what? and ya i had never pulled the cover either, i had taken the plenum to replace the plugs but never took that off. probably a good thing i did tho that and the gaskets i had to scrape off lol*edit* also do I need to put the plenum valve covers and everything back on to do a compression test? For your rocker though, you got the order down. Normally you take off the whole cam to do it but thats a lot of extra work. Look at the pics some people have up on 3si about the homemade tool. You should easily be able to figure it out, just dont compress the spring any farther than you have to or the keepers for the valve spring could fly out. You can go ahead and do a compression test with it all apart just pull the ecu fuse so the car doesnt try and start. If you have bad compression then that valve may be bent and the head would have to come off. If you have fine compression I dont know how much of a difference you'll notice as you have 1 other intake or exhaust valve that works fine yet, but it will help some. |
