I have no pressure behind my clutch pedal in the 3000GT, should I try to bleed the lines or is it automatically the master cylinder??

It's not automatically anything. I'd recommend looking to if there's a leak somewhere first (master cyl, slave cyl, clutch hose). Then fix whatever's leaking and bleed the lines.

First, check the reservoir and see if it's low. If so, you've got a leak. Then check under the carpet on the driver's side and see if fluid has leaked down the firewall and under the carpet. If so, your Master Cylinder is leaking. If not, look down on top of the tranny and see if you have any fluid puddled up in the area under the slave cylinder. If so, either the slave cylinder or hose is leaking. if the hose is leaking, you'll see fluid on the hose. Then replace whatever parts are leaking and bleed the system. |

Ok, so I do have a leak and I have read it is a good thing to replace both the master and slave cylinders. Is it safer to buy totally new or rebuild kits (if I can actually rebuild them myself in my garage with minimal tools) for cheap, and what else is needed besides the cylinders are there hoses that I should buy too?
It looks like I will be buying them from Rock Auto since they look to be cheap on the parts, if you could look there to see if everything there is ok to buy and which is best. Thanks |
