p.s. is there anyone near holland that would ever want to do a get together at the state park or something? let me know EDIT: if anyone is near whyoming grand rapids that would work to. I got a warehouse we can work at off 28th st. My car does need the rebuild so let me know if anyone is willing to do it and how much they would charge. thanks Last edited by kyleh18 : 05-06-2008 at 07:41 AM. |

Your t-belt broke while you were driving? I would normally be willing to do it but I'm gonna be too busy until after the middle of May. Also its a non-turbo correct?

Your best bet is to go with a local person, not a shop. It's something I could probably do, but being located in Ann Arbor right now, I'd have to pull a long weekend and do it. I have a friend that lives in holland so I'd be more than willing to do it. That means you have to have all the parts ready to go. You'll probably have to pull the heads since I'd imagine some of your valves hit. I'd actually recommend pulling the engine and doing a 120K while you're in there.
I take it you're not interested in my exhaust anymore, too

So i took it to the mechanic yesterday and got the report today that the Timing tensioner failed. He is familiar with 3s's so i think it will be good to do this through him although i would have prefered to go with one of you guys... but o well. He's gunna do the 120k for me for 650$ sound like an ok deal?
He said after that all we can do is hope and pray that she starts up after that. If that doesnt work I'm definently going to need your guys' help haha. Also anyone have any recomends on any upgrades i should do while I'm getting the 120 done? just let me know. And yes it's a 93 BASE model dohc non turbo thanks a lot michigan 3sers |

650$ for the whole thing or just labor? The parts alone for a good 120K are around 600$. He must be skimping out somewhere if he's doing the whole thing for that price. I highly doubt it will start after replacing the timing belt because chances are pretty good that the valves have hit the pistons, and bent. There have been some cases where the valves ended up ok, it all depends on where/when the timing belt snapped.

650 for timing belt, tensioner pully, water pump.. it sounded like he was going to do a full recomended 120 on it. The timing belt didnt actually snap. It was still on the pullys when i took off the cover, but there were rubber shavings all over and the teeth were ripped off the belt. All i can do is hope but if the motor is bad....wtf am i gunna do? is it smarter to repair the motor? buy a new one? part out the car(which i dont think i can do... its my baby and she is beautiful)
what do you guys think? or.... i could make it a 3.1/3.5 liter? that would be bad ass but i need to learn a lot more about the mechanics of these cars before i can jump in and do that or i could pay one of you guys to help me with it.... i dont know well see and ill keep posted on how shes doing. thanks |
