hmm my OD seems to be messed up, like 1st to 3rd gear is fine and dandy but when i hit 70mph(4th gear or OD) it jerks the car forward and its real weird, when I bought my car the guy said that I may have to change the tranny.... My mom's friend, a guy who has 2 3kgt(1 91-93 vr4 and a base) changed the timing belt, transmission fluid, oil, oil filter, and tranny pan (he said was the previous pan was very dirty and stuff). I looked for prices on new transmissions and they go from 3 to 4 grand so I was wondering if there was any other thing that we might have to do, I don't want to have to buy a new transmission bc of the price... any suggestions??

A. sounds like u need a new 4th range clutch pack aka 4th gear or end clutch. if i remember right u need a philips screwdriver, 10 mm socket 17mm socket or wrench and maybe a 12mm. take passenger wheel off then remove that dust sheild "black plastic cover next to the trans". drain the trans fluid out, then theres a aluminum cover on the end of the trans i wont say several as in 20 but theres like 8-10 bolts that hold that cover on take those out and pull that cover off then theres notched kinda gear thingy "idk how to explain it lol" but its grayish and slides right off if u have a new 1 slide it on and put it back together. idk the price on the clutch pack but marshall said that while back it was like $300ish (idk if that was installed and if that was dealer and what not) it will take a hour to 1.5 hrs at most. option B might be better for high mileage

B. overhaul it Donnies(Donnies Foreign Car) swear they know these cars. there trans shop quoted me like $1100-$1300 for a full rebuild on my atx stealth last year. B would be a better option cause wear and tear adds up. if 1 goes the rest NORMALLY go not far behind it.
