Well, I have finally had it trying to make it run right, it is going to the Mitsu dealership for repairs this afternoon. It wouldn't idle properly now it just cranks but won't start. I replaced all the plugs and wires and a broken fuel injector and now it wont start, it hesitated when I gave it gas before and wouldn't start unless the gas was to the floor but now it does nothing but crank.
UGGGGGGGG.... The dealership charges $75 an hour in labor and I don't know anyone else in town that works on Mitsubishi besides Donnie's Imports and he's gonna probably charge me as much as the dealership. So I guess the gathering is definitely out this year.... ![]() |

Sounds similar to my break down, last Thursday. I had cranking but no ignition. And in the few days leading up to that the idle was so low at a red light that I thought it would stall.
Little Rock Mitsubishi said everything checked out except the ECM was bad. I could've gotten one from Dodge for $1820 but I sent mine off to be rebuilt, for $230 and it's due to arrive back tomorrow. The dealership is charging me $300 including the tow. I've got my fingers crossed that all will be well and, if so, a total of $530 is a whole lot easier to swallow than $1820... ![]() |

Yup, the red Stealth...that's me.
I sent the ECM off, to Tampa, for it's rebuild on Tuesday and it arrived back today. I had to get someone to run it down to the dealership for me and they called a couple of hours later to say that everything was A-OK. I asked them to check the car out to see if they could let me know if it needed any more work done and the only thing they could find was a faulty, leaking oil pressure sending unit which I asked them to replace. I couldn't get out of work early enough to get someone to give me a lift down there before closing so I'll be picking the car up in the morning. I would almost expect a 15 year old car to need serious work done to it now and then but I am glad that this didn't turn out as bad as it could have been. All the best of luck to you, Doomtech and here's hoping your problems are sorted out with minimum aggravation. If it turns out that yours is an ECM issue, drop me a line and I'll send you the link to the folks in Florida... ![]() |
