Wink Moving to Vegas very soon! Any ideas?

Long time no see! Both my parents recently died, and my brother and I decided to move out to Vegas permanently as soon as my SoCal house sells here.

Rental place needed for a bit for us for a while we house hunt. Any hookups, recommendations?

Realtor will come out tomorrow and give me an idea of how much money I will have to buy a home out there with. Figgering half a mil after we pay off the loan and bills out here, but would like to only spend half or so on a house.

I've been there plenty of times, but don't know the area at all.

Ideal House:
A 4BR, 3BA, new (or nearly new) house with a 3-4 car garage and plenty of nearly flat parking in a nice area. Do-able?

Quite bedroom community area preferred, preferably near a major hospital (had two heart operations so far), and a shopping center/fast food nearby...

I don't gamble at all, and only drink on New Years Eve, BUT would like to take advantage of the great buffet food often, and of course go to the CES and SEMA shows when they're in town.

I LOVE going to FRY'S so being close to that store would be awesome!!!

I LOVE In-n-Out too, but any nearby fast food places would be fine.

I LOVE fountain Coke or Pepsi and nearly always have one with me wherever I go, so a Chevron ExtraMile store or 7-11 nearby is a must.

Don't really know which areas are nice or not, OR would fit the bill just right... Can you help out with suggestions of general areas? Any places on a hill with a view of the city lights?

Anywho, see ya all REAL SOON!!! Gotta have a meet up when I get there!

Hey, hows it going! I saw that you posted this thread on the Vegas3S forums too. I was just about to respond to this one here too hehe.

If you read this one first, I posted a reply to the one that you posted there.

Generally the nice areas in the Las Vegas valley include Summerlin (west side of town), Henderson (posh suburb on SE side) and the far far North and NW areas of N. Las Vegas. Of course there are exceptions to that rule, but generally those are the best areas to begin a search.
As for hospitals, i know one a nice one is currently being finished near the Providence neighborhood (far NW area).

Let me know what other questions you have. I just moved out here a year ago so I have a decent layout of the land. JeremyG also lives right down the street from me and has been here a little longer than I.

I haven't yet. I'll be honest here- im not excited about signing up on yet another forum and having to go to yet another site everyday when it really could be found all in one spot- right here. I already visit at least 3 forums a day, why does there have to be one more? Does that make sense?

Alright, but you'll be missing out on everything. Everyone that was posting here is now posting regularly on the Vegas3S forum. Event and gatherings aren't posted here at all anymore and we've been getting together practically every weekend if not more.

Hehe, there has to be one more because 3Si Vegas can't be our home.

Because trying to use the 3Si forum is very limiting, isn't controlled by us, we can't customize it, isn't a very friendly place, doesn't help maintain a focus on local events, doesn't foster growth, and most of all, it doesn't help give us our own identity.

We now have over 30 people registered on the forum and 90% of those people are in Vegas. Those kinds of numbers would never have been possible if we didn't have our own unique place to go. It's hard to justify in telling new people to register for a forum that's basically completely unrelated to our own group. It's like telling people to meet us in a corner of a room in some building at Disneyland; distracting.

Go to the Vegas3S forum and you'll see exactly what I mean. You don't even have to register, just check it out. If you do register and start posting, you probably wont have a reason to come back here. Besides, we're all waiting for ya man!
