Default coming to vegas! couple questions...

Hi guys!
I have been offered a job as a biologist at the lake mead national recreation area, so im flying out this tuesday to check it out.

Chances are ill take the job, and im looking to move to henderson. I might get an apartment, but im leaning towards renting out a room to try and meet some more people ( I know absolutely no one in the area).

Anyone have tips on good areas in henderson to search for housing? Ive heard the whole city is pretty nice.

Ill be bringing my jeep initially, but would be driving the stealth out hopefully within a few months, and i look forward to meeting some local 3Sers!!

whats the deal with emissions in NV? Im hoping the visual inspections arent as aweful as they are in CA.

Ben

Hey, Welcome (possibly) to vegas!

Emissions arnt as bad a cali. I moved here 6 years ago, thought nothing would pass because half the time mine didnt out there. It did. Flying colors. Heck one of my GT's has blown valve stems and piston rings and THAT thing passed emission. Also unlike cali, you get your plates now, and not in the mail, same with the dl. Thought I would warn you, when I got mine, I damn near walked out without it being used to Cali mailing everything to you.

Henderson is a nice area, I like more towards LV myself in the green valley area. Old henderson is ok, just well, old.

Awesome, glad to hear from more people moving here.

You'll like Henderson, it's really nice. Apartments and houses are generally very nice in that area.

You should definitely hit up the vegas3s forums if you want to get more input about getting a house or apartment in that area. http://www.vegas3s.com - Forum link on the left. Plus, the forum is pretty active so you can get to know some of us down here too.

Emission laws here are pretty relaxed. Inspections are basically just a quick glance over. Getting your car smogged is pretty much cake, nothing like Cali

We're having our first official Vegas3S BBQ coming up Sunday the 9th if you'll be in town. You're more then welcome to come.

Good luck with the Job!

Just an update---

I have arrived!

My dad helped me with the move, and is still here. He drove my cherokee, which had a U-joint fail in the front driveline on the way over, which was horrible but hilarious..the whole thing shook like death at speeds over 2 mph. At 60 you couldnt see out of any mirrors and your guts were misplaced...

I drove a giant uhaul with the stealth in tow. we spent the last 3 nights camping and chasing reptiles (yeah, we are biology geeks) in mojave national preserve, and now im finishing moving in.

Im living in old henderson, not the sweetest place, but it fits me
Ill keep checking here and vegas3s for meets! Id love to hit the track too, where do you guys go?

Also, are there any do-it-yourself auto repair places around where you can work on vehicles? My jeep needs some help, and i cant work on it in my complex.

See you guys soon!

Awesome to hear that you made it! And safe!

The Vegas3S.com forum is the best place to go to get any meet-up info. We're always talking there. We do meet-ups every Thursday with the rest of the car clubs in Vegas. It's pretty sweet since there are so many groups in Vegas.

Old Henderson is pretty cool, it has a totally different vibe then the rest of Vegas.

I don't know of any personal do-it-yourself shops in town though, sorry.

but yeah, definitely post up on the official Vegas forums. Hopefully you can make it out Thursday!
