Default Any Marines or other service members?

I just got orders for HQ COMMARFORPAC Camp Smith, HI. Right now my vr4 and i are in Maryland so im not sure if i am moving the car out with me or not, yet. Ive also been told I will be deploying pretty soon if I am goin to Camp Smith. I guess what im lookin for is how is the area out there? Is there anywhere i can store my car while on deployment and not worry about it? Thanks

Personnally in my experience, if you know you'll be deploying soon, leave it somewhere you can trust it. Talk to Personnal Property, they should be able to ship it out to HI once you get back. I would bring it back home to my parents area and leave it with them or store it locally near them.. That way it can be driven from time to time or at least checked on. Bad mysterious things happen to cars when they sit for too long, and if yer a Jarhead going to the Sandbox, I imagine its a 12 monther. good luck, stay safe and keep yer head down, let the other guy look for direction of fire...

I just moved from HI to CT. You can store your car in my garage in return for some light usage from time to time...

All I can tell you about Oahu for sure is that if you don't do your own car work, then you are going to have a tough time finding someone who does. The Mitsubishi dealership there is next to useless.

im a marine in iraq right now. marines deploy 7 months at a time for the most part. youll be surprised as to how nice is really is out here though. we got good chow(gotta love it) and nice gyms to PT at. its hotter than hell but you gotta expect that in the desert. theres also a lot of MWR and USO facilities. hell Al Asad even has a pool that you can use on your free time.

i recomend you get an ipod and bring a laptop. your gonna have a ton of time on your hands with nothing to do. PT is only fun to a certain extent before you start breaking things.

good luck out there

I am in the Army stationed at Schofield Barracks, HI. I just got back from Iraq and am currently at Walter Reed in DC for an extended stay. I have deployed from Hawaii twice and have had no issue with storing my car while deployed. The vehicles are stored by the military with a company on Hawaii that takes fairly good car of the vehicles. They move them on a regular basis and check fluids to ensure the vehicle doesn't stagnate. They do a good inspection of the vehicles upon drop-off and are really good about covering any issues when you pick-up the car. Although I haven't picked up my car yet from this deployment, I had a good experience coming back from my first deployment.

Hawaii is great...as long as you get out and experience the island. In addition, Hawaii is what you make of it...if you sit in your room and don't do anything, then you will get island fever quickly and hate it. I am totally looking forward to getting back to Hawaii...

I should atleast come in here once in a while and check out the Hawaii section. If people need help with there 3S's then I am down with helping out. I am cursed with knowing how to build these cars. I am getting into the E55's and VIPERs now but it all started back in my 3S days. I do have a 600+whp 3S in my driveway however! Can't get away from them....

Gus//

I thought the base stored cars in a secure location when you were deployed???
