Alright guys. A guy on 3si is willing to sell me a set of vr4 rims, but I'm not sure if I should get them. They are in pretty bad shape, but I was thinking if I was going to powdercoat them anyway that it wouldn't be that big of a problem. Tell me what you think and what you think I should offer this guy for the rims. I wasn't thinking anymore than $250-$300 shipped to my door.

Powdercoating will not cover up any imperfections in the wheels. It will just layer powder in the current form of the wheel. To have a smooth finish, I'd take them to a wheel wizard type of place and have them fix up the wheels. Shouldn't cost a lot, as you said they're not bent or damaged a lot, but it'll even out all the imperfections, smooth out edges, basically make them look like new wheels. Then you'll sandblast, clean, and powdercoat!
