Default Pothole question

So I nailed an epic pothole, and i mean biblical, right next to some train tracks in villa park on 64 near the 355 ramp. Bent my rim pretty good, got two witnesses as well. I heard that the city can be responsible for damages, anyone have any info regarding that?

I tried. I hit one on I-74 just past Danville around 7:30 PM. I called IDOT and they claimed that it was "the first time they had heard of the pothole" and that they had fixed it that next morning, so they were not liable. I still got a claim form to fill out, but they pretty much told me it wouldn't do anything.

I would call IDOT and see if someone else has already reported that pothole. If they have and they haven't fixed it, they should be responsible for replacing/repairing your wheels. One thing to keep in mind is that they told me that they would only replace "stock" wheels, if need be. I said that was alright since OEM stock wheels cost about $600 a piece from a dealer.

Good luck and let us know if you get anywhere with them.

"it will likely take 120-180 days to issue a final written determination" - from IDOT website.

Fuck that, I'll look into just getting the wheel fixed.

Wheels America in Chicago looks like they can fix it for 130 bux, may have to look into that.

Joe, let me know how the repair works out. I have another RX-8 wheel that is bent about the hub that I would like to see if I can get repaired.

Shit's weak. We pay how much in road taxes per year? The least we deserve is roads that don't destroy our vehicles.

You'd think that having a job where all you do is repair potholes, that they could stay on top of them.

Oh well.
