So I nailed an epic pothole, and i mean biblical, right next to some train tracks in villa park on 64 near the 355 ramp. Bent my rim pretty good, got two witnesses as well. I heard that the city can be responsible for damages, anyone have any info regarding that?
I tried. I hit one on I-74 just past Danville around 7:30 PM. I called IDOT and they claimed that it was "the first time they had heard of the pothole" and that they had fixed it that next morning, so they were not liable. I still got a claim form to fill out, but they pretty much told me it wouldn't do anything.
I would call IDOT and see if someone else has already reported that pothole. If they have and they haven't fixed it, they should be responsible for replacing/repairing your wheels. One thing to keep in mind is that they told me that they would only replace "stock" wheels, if need be. I said that was alright since OEM stock wheels cost about $600 a piece from a dealer.
Good luck and let us know if you get anywhere with them.
