Emissions test and front plate q's

Hey guys.

I am originally from Justice, IL but am now in Cali as part of my duty station for being in the military. I am scheduled to be back in Illinois by October and am going to freight my '94 3000gt VR4 to Illinois.

The car plates are from Cali, and the sticker expires in august. Should i update them in cali or somehow get illinois plates? Also do i need front license plates on the car in Il?

It passed smog in Cali but I forgot what the rules are for emissions test in cook county. Should i be concerning myself with a 94?

cars with model year 95 or earlier don't need emissions testing in IL anymore. You need front plates in IL, but they can't ticket you if your car is registered out of state.

Okay earlier than 95. Do you mean pre or post? And for the plates. Guess I'll update them in Cali.

earlier = older = pre = before

some would argue that it's worth the extra $100 for no front plate and the "cool factor" of having a cali plate in chicago.

This is actually simpler than the DMV for Military, out of state. Just call Secretary of States office and you can get anything you need from them.
Hell when I was in I got my motorcycle license though the mail. My Drivers License was weird but fun, had no photo or signature required.
The picture window just said "not required"
On the back of it it showed "Exemption Military no photo or signature required"

Call them up, some of the ladies there are so nice, I wish I could always just call them for when I need anything SoS/DMV related.

I'm originally from South Gate,Ca.Just wait to expired and transfered it to iL.plates or otherwise they will make u pay again for bs fees.Now,about plates..technically we need n must have plates in d'front. but u will get stops for warning!!..depends on d Cops.Welcome back.
