nope just drive the hour or so

and what kind of warranty are you expecting?
if you want your trans rebuilt......some transmission shops will give you a warranty on their labor or a limited warranty for x-amounts of miles........and thats for a trans rebuilt

now if you want your trans "built-up" with stonger parts (i.e. Level 10 transmission parts such as clutch packs, etc.) DONT expect it to get warrantied anywhere......you'll get a warranty on the labor maybe but don't expect the parts to be warrantied

its like me bringing my car in and having a clutch put in and demanding they warranty my trans...not going ot happen

well i can't drive it because my trans is blown. so it would have to be towed, that sounds kind of pricey to have it towed to milwaukee.

and i am expecting a 12 mo warranty. As is, the guy I talked to won't even give me their standard rebuilt warranty on a stock replacement, it's ridiculous.

And from what I understand, this shop wouldn't warranty the labor, but whatever parts warranty is offered will be held up (probably through the manufactorer, not the shop). So basically, if anything breaks, the part might get replaced (if it's within the warranty period) but I would have to pay for it to get reinstalled or whatever again.

any trans shop can work on your n/a transmission...it is nothing like the getrash! Although Jim and Jeff are great, and I usually always recomend them, your situation doesnt really warrant them.

Shop around.

i had my car on a trailer and drove it up to milwaukee a year or so back and i had to drive from dekalb to milkwaukee

Hear me now, believe me later.....

A certain member on the local chicago thread asked for advice, the huddled masses all got together and said in one voice "take it to Jim and Jeff" he ignored it, and took it to Cottmans I believe.... they screwed it up, and are refusing to honor a warranty... now he is bitching about finding another shop.

I know you are new here, so I will try to be as gentle as I can.... However, I need to temper this gentleness with enough force to get your attention...

And tow your freakin
broke-assed car!

Both Ro and I have had to at one point or another tow OUR freakin' broke-assed cars to Milwaukee... You will save hundreds if not over a grand... not to mention getting the job done right.

Thanks for the words of wisdom. In the long run I was planning on reinforcing the trans as I know it's a weakpoint, but I just hadn't planned on doing it nearly this soon (maybe in a year or two, oh well). In the future I was just gonna do some basic's I/H/E and then maybe a 100 shot of nitrous. So although I'm not doing that anytime soon I might as well fix up the trans a bit while its out. I don't want anything too major, no 3000rpm stall, that's just no practical for everyday driving. but I would like reinforced valvebodies, clutches, bands, etc. and a beefed up torque converter, nothing crazy, but just reinforced. While I'm in this boat, I'm thinking about just getting a whole rebuilt upgraded trans from somewhere, then I'll definately have a warranty. So far the only places I've come accross are IPT (import performance trans) for 2800 and jaspers (which offers a 36 month warranty). It'll be a grand more than other rebuilds but i know it will be high quality with a good warranty.

Anyways, I was just looking for opinions and for someone to share my outrage at this retard. Also anyone that is in my local area to point out a shop would be great.

scott are your talking about the guy with the n/a who supercharged it?

if so, completely different story. He enjoyed doing nuetral drops etc...and had the added HP from the S/C. If we are talking about the same person, which we may not be, the owner was to blame.

Ok, well as always I will take your advice (as everybodies) with a grain of salt. However I will add them to the running and give them a call to see what they can do for me. I guess Milwaukee isn't horribly far, it's just farther than I had hoped to go, maybe you're right though.

I just realized that I forgot to put any smiles in the post, I'm glad you took it in the spirit I posted... in all seriousness, both Ro and I have towed our rides, something like 50 to rent the trailer from u-haul, but you will save much more than that.

Good luck
