if you have to shift below 6,000rpm to avoid knock, you'll be missing your most powerful threshold on these cars.......they shine at between 6,000 - 7,000rpms. hope that helps. |

i agree, but while its knocking, and you havnt exactly figured out the question, turning the boost down wouldnt be a bad idea. No need to cause something else to go wrong while you are troubleshooting and getting high knock.

Its not a fuel issue, pump is big enough, injectors are big enough (70% DC), and O2s right where they should be (.94). I think I am just oustripping the octane rating of the fuel I am using. What I am asking is:
If turning down the boost = performance reduction across the whole RPM range And short shifting = loosing the performance in the "sweet-spot" Then does lowering performance on whole RPM range make up for losing the perfromance above 6000?

Is the HP generated with lower boost with higher rpm less than or greater than that created with higher boost with a bit lower rpm? I think it may become a question of just how quickly a given turbo spools, if you look at a HP curve, they kind of plateau, if you can upshift, and not fall off the plateau, I would think lower rpm higher boost would be the higher horsepower alternative. |

Maybe one of you guys can offer me some advice.
I have a '95 3000gt SL and it has about 55k miles on it. I have only had it for about 3 months and have baby-ed it so far. I was on my way home to Cary and the automatic trans went out on me. I know that auto trans's in mitsu's are probably their most noted weakpoints, but this is ridiculous. I'm sure that is part of it, and the guy who owned it before me must have beat the shit out of it. Anyways, now I am stuck replacing this crap. Switching to a manual is not an option, I am looking to rebuild with a little bit stronger parts than stock. Well so far just about every trans place I've called has jacked me around telling the trans is crap and that they won't warranty the crap. Can anyone suggest a "reputable" shop that they know/work for, maybe even one that specializes in mitsubishis/imports that won't treat me like a retarded step child and can give me a fair price and a warranty? Help guys, I'm screwed enough paying for this crap without being told I'm going to have to bend over and not get a warranty. Thanks.
