But that’s not what I meant. You can’t fit a 275mm tire on a 9.5" wide rim under the front fenders while keeping the stock diameter; it WILL rub. The widest tire one can fit on a 9.5" rim (and still clear the calipers) is 265mm. This size tire will stick out ~8mm in front and ~5mm in rear on a 5zigen Fn01rc 18x9.5" rim. I know this sounds absolutely retarded, but we must consider the way the *shape* of the tire changes with respect to the width of the rim. For example, ShowKiller was the only person (that I know of) who had 275mm tires up front (stock fenders without any modifications) with no rubbing/sticking out issues. He told me this was mainly due to the rim width and offset he was using (18x9" 38mm), so I decided to look into it. I found many cases of people using 275mm tires with 9.5" rims that had to cut/mold their front and in some cases rear fenders to stop the tires from rubbing. This and some other information I gathered is what made me arrive to the aforementioned generalization. - Syed Last edited by 1500awhp : 04-08-2006 at 10:40 AM. |

Pretty sure he is talking about the metal(copper colored?) piece shaped somewhat like a t with a curve to it. It goes over the end of the pads to hold them in place. Its been a few years since Ive done a brake job on one of these so this is all by memory.
