SUCCESS!!!
So I'm happy to report that I excavated without any problems. Slow but smooth. I called JULIE and the utility companies came out but they only mark the lines they've installed. Most farms have privately installed lines which they would have no record of. I hit some clay but no rocks at all which is a freaking miracle. We've got a big International Harvester with a front end loader so I'm moderately familiar with hydraulic operation. The trencher was easy, the hand-digging was a BEOTCH! But the trench and holes are dug and the plumber comes out wednesday to do his thing. I'm sore as hell though. I can't believe people used to dig foundations by hand and do it for a living. HUGE THANK YOU to DrJekkyl for the transportation assistance HUGE THANK YOU to saiyin car for breaking his back helping me dig I would've been screwed without you guys. Mucho thank you. ![]()

Cameron, thanks for the use of your timing help tensioner pulley tool. It took me a couple of weeks longer to finish the job than I expected. I wasn't expecting to discover the PO had a battery vent and eat the paint off the strut tower and everything under it. Let me know when would be a good time to return it.
Last Friday night, six fine young citizens decided to egg the house and the red '91. I've now got paint damage all over the car and it will need to be repainted. Anybody got suggestions for good paint shops in the western burbs. I've got the names and confessions from three of the six involved so I'll need to get some quotes for all of them to split up or they will get a visit from the sheriff. I'd have to ask my daughter how she found out who was involved but once one fessed up a few of the others realized their goose was cooked. I spoke with one parent tonight and another is calling tomorrow. They got my GSX too but that all washed off without any damage. I guess they thought they were egging her car but it was still in the garage on jack stands. I didn't notice the attack until I rolled her car out Saturday morning. She went into school today and came home with names.
She's pretty relentless when people cross her. ![]() Steve |

Hell, I did stupid things when I was younger and paid the price when I got caught.
If all I had to do was wash everything down it wouldn't have been an issue. But there's no way I'm going to let them slide when they start taking money out of my pocket. They got lucky that the paint on my GSX, which was sitting next to the Stealth and also hit, did wash off but the red paint isn't very forgiving. Too bad for them that you have to paint the whole thing to make it look right, red paint isn't very forgiving. ![]() Steve |
