All kidding aside, I didnt think it was real relevant . . I'm asking / looking around for someone with deeper knowledge of stereo equipment installation other than just the occassional weekend head unit & speaker installer.

Thanks Bro. Let me know.

Wednesday night I was out trying to tune with my new datalogger stuff and my car started acting up really bad. It seems electrical in nature. I don't think it was necessarily related to datalogging, and I've been trying to find any kind of pattern or cause, but not having much luck. It's real intermittent.

Usually when I start my car cold everything is fine. Often times starting my car again after I was driving recently I'll start it and it won't stay running unless I give it gas to keep the RPMs up. But all I have to do is drive a block or two normally, maybe into 2nd gear, and it works itself out and will be ok.

Another problem I have, maybe related maybe not and what happened Wed night, is it seems voltage will dramatically drop for a split second. Usually it happens when driving and if I'm in neutral or have the clutch in and the RPMs drop. Maybe it's related to RPMs dropping too much plus having an underdrive pulley system. But this hasn't been a problem until just a few weeks ago. The voltage will drop enough to cause the radio to go off for a moment, the antenna will even start down but then come right back on. Revving the engine to get the RPMs back up doesn't always help either. Wed night it got so bad the car was bucking every second as it dropped and came back up. I think the voltage was getting under 10V. I've even done some datalogging of voltage and have recorded down-spikes where the logger says it got as low as 2.5V and once even lower. But like I said, it isn't all the time. So Wed night it got into this mode of low and fluctuating voltage and I nursed it to a parking lot. I shut it down for a while and then restarted it and it was fine. Drove for a while with no problem, parked for a while again, then started it and it was bucking again. I was about 60 miles away from home and was worried, but this time it lasted for just a while than all of a sudden it worked itself out and ran perfectly fine.

I took it to PepBoys to get the battery and alternator checked out and they found no problems. Of course, driving there it was fine, and driving home fine until I came to my driveway and the voltage dropped and it died. Restarted and pulled into the garage but the voltage was unstable.

It's just really weird to me that it sometimes is perfectly fine, sometimes wants to die, and other times is absolutely horrible.
