Does anybody know of a good place to get my engine balanced and blueprinted?? I'm trying to get the damn thing to run like new, so first i need to figure out what the hell is wrong with it. right?
There isn't anything majorly wrong that I can see or feel, but Im sure there are probably some leaks and the internals need to be cleaned or something. The car just doesn't have the kick it did when i first bought it (I know what you guys are thinking, what kick? Its an N/A, but it matters to me the car has sentimental value) Any suggestions that dont include turbos, superchargers or new engines?

Although one of those would be nice, not possible in my near future.

Gotta keep up with the chicago crew status.....so my shit does run.
(kinda have to with that being my car in the pic)

Jackie,

I recommend that you do a compression check of all cylinders first and foremost. You may find that one or more cylinders is down on compression, causing you to feel like it doesnt have the same power, which means you would have to open up the engine in order to properly restore the power that you once felt ( by installing new piston rings ) Its only at that time that you can have an engine blue printed and balanced, when it is freshly rebuilt all the way thru.

How many miles on your 3000 ?

Unless something is obviously wrong, there's really no need to balance and blueprint. It's overkill and you're talking about quite a bit of time and money. Plus, when you open things up, they don't always go back together the same way. Hey, if it ain't broke... DON'T FIX IT! Do a comp test, pressure check the intake tract, soapy water test, replace all your fluids, new plugs and wires, clean throttle body, IAC, TPS, etc. There's all sorts of basic, easy, and cheap stuff to do before you jump into taking the engine apart.

Jackie,

I agree with Damon and Jamie....before you start taking the engine apart (the problem may not even be there) you should do a compression test and a leak down test to see if it's the heads or the short block that is a bit out of whack. Also, like I was telling you the other day....you have to remember that over time the car is gonna seem to be 'not as fast as it was before' because you get used to it....hell even with 15G's in my car, sometimes I feel like it's nothing becuase I'm so used to it now.
