which ones are you taking off the front or rear? My fronts came off with a wrench and 4ft breaker bar, the rears came off after putting a wrench on the bolt, and pounding on it with a hammer for an hour each as hard as a could. My dads work has a 900ft/lb @90psi impact gun that I barrowed, even at 140psi it didnt do a damn thing.

Just get a big wrench and a hammer and start pounding.

Just tried that....I broke the bottom bolt off on both sides....but then I got to thinking that if I drilled a hole through it, that may help....so I drilled a hole through it and now I have to find something to hit it with to see if I can get the shaft out. I think this will work....on the top I've just been pounding at it, and it definately looks like it has moved....so I'm gonna let a bunch of pb blaster sit on it over night and see what happens in the morning.

So this is the front if there is a top and bottom. you dont have anythign supporting the a-arm right, it should be just hanging there

top and bottom strut bolt. Top = alignment bolt, and bottom is just a regular bolt. The A arm and all is still connected to the control arm.

Yeah, I know what bolts your talking about, I was asking if you had a jack under the strut / a arm or any of that holding it up. Because that would put presure on the bolts. Everything should just hang fully extended.

Good news and bad news fellas. Pretty much everything is back on the car. Unfortunately, I ended up with 2 stripped bolts and 1 FUBAR'd nut. Thankfully, all 3 deal with the supension so it's not like they're buried somewhere deep in the bay. I will be getting up early to find replacement hardware and putting the fluids in the car. It's gonna be close, but I may make it.

glad to hear that Damon, sounds like it waqs rather eventfull.

Sanjay did you get those bolts broken off? i would try a grinding tool?
if that doesnt work use an extension like a pipe slid over the handle of teh ratchet and put some torque on that bastard! i usually use like a 4' 3/4" steel pipe capped at one end i wrap it with cloth and just start pushing! thats how we finally got that one lock nit off teh vr4. remember that one that was all chewed up by the grinder that i used?

good luck

just to let you guys know i think we have teh biggest thread AGAIN. no one else seems to have quite as many responces! we should watch out for it getting deleted!

Damon, what bolts stripped on the suspension?????????? I should be around most of the day if you have any questions.
Jeff,

I tried drilling one out last night....gonna see how hard/easy it is to get it out by hammering another bolt behind it....I'm hoping it's not too bad. But I don't think I can drive it up to you anymore since the bottom bolt is broken off. I'm going to go home early today to work on it, but I'll let you know how it goes. Maybe I could persuade you to come down south? I'll call ya after I get home. Thanks Jeff.
