Holy crap I'm beat!

I've been fighting with these damn brakes all day... everytime I work on this car, I remind myself of what morons there are out there working on them too!

I'm not sure what the stupid SOB did, but whoever worked on the brakes last either torqued the F*ck out of the bolts holding on the front calipers, or they used threadlock of some sort (there is a powdery residue that may be threadlock)

All I know is the sons of bitches did NOT want to come off. I wound up putting her on Jackstands and using a 6 point box-end wrench... I would put it on at an angle of about 7 o-clock, put the other end of the wrench on my jack, and jack the f*cker up... the first couple times, the wrench actually lifted the car, until the weight of the car settled and forced the bolt to turn.

Think about it, doing the math, that SOB had to have been on there with over 400 ft lbs of torque.... I think the numb nuts bastard who worked on it last needs to be taken out, chained to my bumper, and drug behind the damn thing!

Well, three calipers down, only one to go, and its soaking in PB Blaster as I type... meanwhile, I think I am going to grab a cold one, and take a break.

Sanjay,

I may be up for it if I can get this damn last caliper off and replaced... I can't promise anything... give me a shout if you are going out.

If tonight's a bust, how 'bout Wednesday night at HB?

Angry Re: Chicago Crew Thread #2

OK, all you newbies out there, read and take heed.... this story is EX-FREAKIN'-ZACTLY why you never ever EVER take your car to some shithead to work on it...

1. Take it to Jim and Jeff,
2. Take it to someone you know and TRUST (who has preferable worked on these cars before)
3. Buy a torque wrench, get a manual, and do it your-own-damn-self...

Doing one of these is the ONLY way you can be sure you got it done right.

In the posts above, I was bitching about some fu@knut who worked on the brakes for a previous owner and overtorqued the front caliper bolts... well, I got the first front caliper off, and I soaked the bolts on the other in PB Blaster... I even took a torch to it to try to break it loose...

When I applied my whole body weight to the breaker bar (a little bit of my weight was not budging it), the fu@king bolt head snapped clean off.

The pisser is that the shithead who did it probably charged the owner EXTRA for the privledge of getting his car fu@ked up. Only he sold it before the shitty work became appearant! Now I am royally screwed!

just ask greg and sanjay of all the problems we ran into......like using a hacksaw to get the rear o2 off

just chill yo

Got everything off of the car save for the actual tranny. Dropping it tommorow, sending off the RPS 6 puck to get resurfaced immediately. I pray they get it back as quickly as they promised... I WILL BE AT THE NG!!!

Oh, since my tranfer case is sitting next to me, what Dodge dealer should I go to for my TC recall replacement. I can just walk in with it and my VIN correct?
