JDM Importing

*I posted this elsewhere, but figured it belonged here, since those 'Merikans don't know the joy of JDMs....*

I've noticed there's quite a few people on here that have imported GTO's from Japan (or puchased ones that have already been brought in).

I am in the process of looking for a 94 GTO MR to bring in myself. It's going to take a while, but I've already gotten some help from a few of the great people on here. I was thinking we should make a little database for anyone thinking about buying or importing a GTO.

If you'd be able to list any importing companies, brokers, auctions, dealerships or anything else you've found useful (or unuseful) in your journeys, I think it'd be very helpful. Also, if you've imported one yourself, maybe list approximate costs and timeframe?

Tyeeimports.com -JDM dealership. nearly every quick car in this town is from there. Low prices, good service, questionable quality.
Terra2imports.ca -JDM dealership. lots of nice cars. Pricey though.
redlineimports.ca - decent prices, nice cars, Edmonton based.

Both are for canada, is it the same in the US?

Bought my 1990 GTO directly from an auction on Japanese used cars - Used Japanese car imports direct from Japanese auctions, they also arrange shipping for you. Be careful buying a 1994, the car has to be 15 years or older on day of arrival, or you'll have to send it back. Your best bet is to buy from a dealer that can confirm the production date, or wait till the end of this year. Good luck.
