Default give me ideas... sorry for OT

Hey guys, During the end of june I plan to take a vacation to northern cali.

So far some of the ideas I have planned are stopping at the Oregon vortex in southern Oregon, six flags in Sacramento, and SF, Alcatraz, Sonoma for the Nascar race including the world challenge series, winchester mansion. And then drive back up up hwy 101.

Anyone have any other ideas or reccomendations?

are you guys having any meets during then?

Go to Patricks Point State Park (just north of Trinidad in Humboldt County).

Go to the towns of Fort Bragg and Mendocino (awsome victorian villages and ocean views)

Go to Samoa and eat at the Samoa Cookhouse (old school logging food-barn)

Go through Avenue of the Giants (secnic route paralleling the 101)

just a few for now.

Don't go to Six Flags...it won't be fun. If anything, drive a bit further to Great America!!! D

Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo is pretty awesome

Depending on when you are here, and if you are into wine, I can take you on a tour of the Napa Valley too.

Fort Bragg is an awesome place to go for history and beach, and if you are at all into the wilderness, perhaps you should go see Mt Lassen Volcanic National Park outside of redding (about 45 mins.) It's mostly comparable to Yosemite, but much more on your way.

Also, if you are out on a Sat Night, in the sac area, you should see another good site: Fellow 3/S ers just hanging out like we do every sat.

Thanks for the tips guys!

As far as the wine goes, were not really into that(but we have been to the wine tours up here, and we are the #2 wine makers in the US hehehe, behind you guys)

So what do you guys do on saturday nights in Sacramento? That may not work out as our plan was to drive down I5, but it looks like we will do it backwords and drive down 101, and head home on the 26th up I-5. Because i have to be back to work.

Do you guys happen to know how much parking is at Great america? this was one of the places I was wanting to go to, but forgot about it when I posted before. I'm just wondering because the vip pass isn't much more than a normal day admission, and it includes parking.

IIRC, Parking is $8. It has been two years since I have gone though so I can't 100% remember.

Great America is very awesome, but has ungodly waits most of the time. Your best bet is to get there as early as possible on a Wednesday.

Thanks.

So how is Vallejo? I im pretty sure thats where I will get the hotel for the week. Is my car/wallet going to be safe? heh looks like a pretty good spot in the middle of all the places I want to go.

It totally depends on where in Vallejo you are; how safe you are. You could be on the wrong side of the stree there and it be the difference between your safety or lack thereof. If you can afford the extra expense, spring for a hotel in the Concord / Walnut Creek / Plesant Hill areas. Lafayette might be a little cheaper, but it is approaching the not-so-safe side of security. You definately want to avoid Hotel-6 or similar hotels anywhere in the bay area though, because those become apartment complexes for druggies and theives IME - not to say that everyone who stays there is one of either.

hmm, maybe I should rethink staying there then. I was trying to go cheaper on the hotel to be able to stay longer and be able to afford more things during the trip tho.
maybe I should bring a tent lol!
